Duc Tho District is located in the northern part of Ha Tinh Province, approximately 325 km south of Hanoi. To the east, it borders Hong Linh Town and Can Loc District; to the west, it borders Huong Son District; to the south and southwest, it borders Vu Quang District; and to the north, it borders Nam Dan and Hung Nguyen Districts in Nghe An Province.
