Reason:

Root rot is generally caused by imbalanced moisture levels due to improper maintenance. Kim Ngan plants are delicate and can easily die from overwatering or underwatering. Weak roots make the plant vulnerable to pests and molds.

How to prevent root rot:

Use garlic:

Garlic not only offers health benefits in food, but it can also be used as a care ingredient for bonsai. Garlic contains substances that prevent pests and molds from penetrating.

  • Take 3 cloves of garlic, peel them, and chop them into chunks.
  • Put the minced garlic and 2/3 water into a plastic bottle. Shake the mixture well.
  • Cover the bottle and let the mixture ferment for about 1 month.

Watering:

Proper watering is crucial for caring for this plant. Regulate the amount of water to ensure the plant’s needs are met. Avoid overwatering and underwatering. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. For indoor plants, mist watering once a week is sufficient, whereas outdoor plants should be watered every 1.5 weeks.

Planting temperature:

Natural Kim Ngan plants thrive in temperatures ranging from 10 to 40 degrees Celsius. Ornamental plants can tolerate lower temperatures of 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. However, they are prone to heat shock when exposed to sudden temperature changes. Therefore, place the plants in a cool room and gradually adjust the temperature to prevent shock.

Light exposure:

Avoid placing the plant in direct sunlight, as it can damage the leaves. Choose a shaded location with indirect sunlight.

Soil replacement:

Change the soil for the tree annually to prolong its lifespan. Kim Ngan plants are not picky about soil type, as long as it is nutrient-rich.

Combine with aspirin:

Aspirin can help prevent diseases on ornamental plants by preventing the entry of bacteria and pests. Use a mixture of aspirin and water to water the plants every 15 days during the growth period. This promotes root growth and prevents root rot caused by pests.
