Window frames and sills are often susceptible to the growth of fungi and bacteria due to their direct exposure to external environmental factors. If neglected, these areas can become filled with accumulated dust, which can enter the interior, posing health risks and hindering the opening and closing of windows.
Here are some quick tips for cleaning window sills:
Use beer and salt
This is a method for cleaning window sills to keep them clean and cool. |
Sprinkle a small amount of salt on the window sill, then pour a bit of beer on top. The combination of salt and beer will create foam, with the salt acting as a friction agent to easily wipe away and remove dirt from the window sills.
Use a sturdy toothbrush to scrub the open gaps on the window sill multiple times, then use a dry cloth to wipe it clean. This method can effectively remove even stubborn dirt.
Use foam and dishwashing liquid
If your window gaps are dirty, take a sponge and place a piece of foam on the window gap to mark the gap positions with a pencil. Then, use a paper cutting knife and cut along the marked lines.
By gently pushing the foam through the window gap, the layer of dirt will be quickly removed along with the dishwashing foam.
If the dirt has been there for a long time, you can dilute dishwashing liquid with water and soak the foam in it. Then, use the foam to wipe the window gap and use a dry cloth or paper to wipe it again as mentioned earlier.
Use spices
It may sound strange, but spices can be surprisingly effective in cleaning window gaps.
You will need: Salt, baking soda, white vinegar, toothbrush, and a dry paper or clean cloth.
First, sprinkle a small amount of salt on the window gap, then add some baking soda on top, and finally pour a bit of white vinegar over the baking soda. The combination of baking soda and white vinegar will create a strong chemical reaction with powerful detoxification abilities.
After pouring, you can place a layer of paper towel on top and let it sit for 5 minutes.
After this time, simply wipe the window gap gently with a paper towel.
Use a vacuum cleaner and a toilet paper roll
Prior to cleaning, it is advisable to vacuum away the dirt to facilitate the subsequent cleaning process.
However, if the vacuum cleaner cannot reach the very small window gaps to completely remove the dirt, you can attach a toilet paper roll to the top of the vacuum cleaner. Made of soft material, the toilet paper roll can fit into any small corner and effectively remove dirt.
Tips for removing dirt with a hair dryer
One end of the hair dryer blows air, while the other end sucks air. To clean the window gaps, cover the air intake end with a small piece of cloth (to prevent dust from being sucked into the hair dryer). Then, cut the top of a water bottle and securely attach it to the air intake end of the hair dryer. Finally, turn on the hair dryer switch. Each piece of dirt will be quickly sucked into the top of the water bottle, making the process fast, efficient, and easy.
