While most people may think there is only one way to use a fan, which is to turn it on and point it straight at yourself, it turns out that’s not the case. As many countries are experiencing unbearable heat during the summer days, the following tips may help you to some extent.
According to an article on Mirror, recently a woman named Leah White with the nickname @leahwhite4828 shared a very clever fan tip that surprised many others.
Leah White shared her discovery on social media.
In the video shared on TikTok with over 8,000 followers, 33-year-old Leah revealed that she had been using the fan incorrectly for 28 years without knowing.
“I need to try this. I didn’t know anything before and I’m 33 years old”, Leah said in the clip.
She explained that her family lived in a newly built apartment and because it was quite small, it kept the heat quite well and every evening, the apartment became uncomfortably hot.
Leah said that when it’s hot, she should position the fan towards the door
“We kept the fan running all night, but it wasn’t very effective. I learned on social media that’s not how you should use a fan in your bedroom. You have to place the fan facing the window and the window should be open. Then, when you turn on the fan, it will draw out the hot air from the room. And at night when it’s cooler, you should reverse it, meaning turn the fan around and it will draw in the cool air from outside. I just did that for 15 minutes and my room was much cooler than before. Does anyone know this tip or am I just silly?”, Leah humorously asked.
After sharing, the clip received a lot of attention from the online community with over 1.8 million views, thousands of comments, and shares. Many people commented that they didn’t know they could use an electric fan this way.
“I didn’t know either, like you, I will try this tip”, one person wrote.
“Really? And here I am, just having the fan blowing directly on my face”, another person admitted.
“I didn’t know this either, but once I passed by a house and saw 2 fans placed at the window like that, and I thought it was really weird. But now I will try it”, another netizen said.
