Due to being a small detail, shoelaces are often forgotten by their owners and unintentionally make the shoes look ugly. Many people use a shoe brush and brush it on the shoelaces. This method makes the shoelaces become frayed and makes the shoes look less classy.

Therefore, cleaning the shoelaces is essential. Here is a super quick way to clean white shoelaces without worrying about damage, helping to make the shoes more perfect.

Materials needed to clean white shoelaces:

Glass or plastic bowl

Old toothbrush or small soft brush

Mesh laundry bag

Washing basin

Rubber gloves

Detergent

Bleach

Oxygen bleach

Enzyme-based stain remover

Clean white shoelaces by hand washing:

– Remove the shoelaces from the shoes.

– If the shoelaces are muddy, let them sit under cold water to remove dirt.

– Soak the old toothbrush or small soft brush in detergent or enzyme-based stain remover. Use the brush to scrub the cleaning agent into both sides of the shoelaces.

Tide or Persil detergent contains necessary enzymes to remove stubborn stains. If you use a less expensive cleaning agent, use the enzyme-based stain remover to handle tough stains.

– Pour 4 cups of hot water into a washing basin or bucket. Add ½ teaspoon of liquid detergent. If you are washing multiple shoelaces, double the amount of water and detergent.

– Place the shoelaces into the cleaning solution and agitate them for a few minutes to wet the laces and ensure they are submerged. Soak the shoelaces for at least 30 minutes.

– Insert the laces into the cleaning solution and then rinse them with cool water. If the shoelaces are clean and bright, you can hang them up to air dry. If not, soak the shoelaces in bleach and water, or bleach or oxygen bleach following the instructions above.

– After washing or bleaching the shoelaces, rinse them again in cool water and hang them on a rack to dry naturally.

Clean white shoelaces using a washing machine:

– Follow the steps listed above: remove the laces from the shoes, clean off the dirt on the shoelaces, use heavy-duty cleaner or enzyme-based stain remover.

– To prevent the shoelaces from tangling in the washing machine, place the shoelaces in a mesh laundry bag.

– Throw the laundry bag into a pile of white laundry items such as bed sheets, towels, cotton underwear, and wash them in warm to hot water with detergent. If the white shoelaces are made of cotton, you can add bleach to the washing machine.

– Once the washing machine is done, remove the shoelaces from the laundry bag. If they are not clean or white as desired, you can soak the shoelaces in bleach. If you use bleach, you can wear rubber gloves when adding bleach and removing the shoelaces.

– If the shoelaces are made of cotton, pour 2 cups of warm water into a plastic or glass bowl and add a teaspoon of bleach. Stir well. Place the shoelaces in the bowl and let them fully soak and soak for 5 minutes. Then, rinse the shoelaces with cool water. If you are whitening multiple shoelaces, double the amount of water and bleach.

– If the shoelaces are synthetic, pour 2 cups of warm water into a plastic or glass bowl and add 1 tablespoon of oxygen bleach. Stir well. Place the shoelaces in the bowl and let them fully soak for at least 2 hours, maximum 8 hours. Oxygen bleach takes much longer to be effective compared to bleach. Rinse the shoelaces before drying.

– Hang the shoelaces on a drying rack or towel bar to air dry. If you want the shoelaces to dry faster, wrap them in a thick cotton cloth to absorb moisture quickly.
