Ingredients and tools for making lemongrass essential oil to repel mosquitoes
10-12 lemongrass stalks
200 ml white wine (can use vodka, rice wine, or vinegar)
200 ml filtered water
Knife, cutting board, blender, clean glass bottle
Step 1: Wash the lemongrass stalks, then cut them into small pieces that fit in your bottle. Next, peel off the outer layer of lemongrass.
Step 2: Crush the lemongrass stalks, then put them into a clean glass bottle, and add 200 ml of filtered water and 200 ml of white wine. Note to pour so that the lemongrass stalks are completely submerged to avoid mold.
Step 3: Close the glass bottle tightly and store it in a cool place for 3 days for the lemongrass to release its essential oil. After 3 days, put the soaked lemongrass into a blender and blend until smooth.
Step 4: Then, pour the mixture back into the glass bottle and leave it in a cool place for another 3 weeks. After 3 weeks, strain the oil and discard the residue.
After 3 weeks, you will have a bottle of fragrant lemongrass essential oil that is completely natural and can be applied to the skin or sprayed on clothes to repel mosquitoes, prevent Zika and other mosquito-borne diseases!
