More and more scams are appearing through phone calls. There are many fraudulent calls claiming to be from authorities or network providers to deceive users into providing personal information or deceiving them of large sums of money. If you receive a call with the following content, hang up immediately.

Signs of fraudulent phone calls

According to information from VTV News, there are increasingly sophisticated tricks that make it difficult for recipients to end the call. Some of these calls include:

Receiving a call from a network provider losing millions of dong in your bank account.

Receiving a call from a hospital losing hundreds of millions of dong.

Receiving a call as an online sales associate losing billions of dong.

All of them are fraudulent calls.

Experts advise that when receiving calls with the following content, turn off your phone to avoid falling into major scams:

– The phone call starts with the other person mentioning your full name, date of birth, ID number, and home address. It might be a bit surprising, but if the other person then says “We request your cooperation,” there’s probably a problem!

– Another strange call is about upgrading your sim card. If you receive a message notifying that your phone sim card will be locked in 2 hours if you don’t upgrade to a 4G or 5G sim, and then a person calls claiming to be a network provider employee, accurately reciting multiple personal details about you, and asking you to follow instructions through messages to upgrade your sim card, do not listen to them.

– There are also strange calls with attractive offers of commissions reaching tens of percent if you advance payment. Some individuals trust after receiving a small amount of money and proceed to transfer a large sum, which is when the scammer reveals their true face.

Precautions when receiving fraudulent calls

Responding to the press, a representative from the Telecommunications Authority advises that when receiving spam calls or calls with signs of fraud, individuals should stay calm and report to the number 156 through two methods: Sending messages or making phone calls to the number 156 as follows:

The first method is to send a message (free of charge) to the number 156. For spam messages, compose a message using the format: S (phone number – source) (content of report) send to 156 (or 5656).

For calls with signs of spam, compose a message using the format: V (phone number – source) (content of report) send to 156 (or 5656).

For calls with signs of fraud, compose a message using the format: LD (phone number – source) (content of report) send to 156 (or 5656).

The second method is to make a call to the toll-free number 156 to provide information (about the phone number making spam calls or calls with signs of fraud; quote relevant information…). Provide the report according to the instructions of the customer care department of the network providers.

From there, it will require verification of subscriber information and handling violations if the subscriber’s information does not comply with the regulations according to Clause E, Point 7, Article 1 of Decree 49/2017/ND-CP (temporarily suspending one-way telecommunications services, then suspending two-way telecommunications services if not complied with, and finally terminating the provision of telecommunications services).

The Cybersecurity and High-tech Crime Prevention Department (Ministry of Public Security) advises that individuals need to be vigilant and on guard against calls from unknown numbers that threaten to block subscriptions.

When receiving messages or calls with signs of fraud, individuals should save the evidence (message or call recordings) and report them to the network providers to request action. In addition, individuals should provide evidence to the nearest police agency to request prosecution according to the law.

Law enforcement agencies absolutely advise against following any requests from spam messages or calls with signs of fraud as mentioned above.

If you receive any phone call with signs of fraud as mentioned above, immediately hang up. Never comply with any requests from suspicious messages or calls.

There are several reasons why your phone might be experiencing sudden shutdowns. It could be due to an outdated operating system, faulty hardware, a drained battery, or even an overheating issue. To fix this, make sure your phone is running on the latest operating system and apps. Check for any physical damage to the phone, especially the battery and charging port. Keep your phone cool and avoid excessive charging or discharging of the battery. If the issue persists, consider seeking professional help.

Overheating can be caused by several factors, such as excessive usage, charging while using the phone, or running too many apps at once. To prevent overheating, avoid using your phone while it’s charging, and close any unnecessary apps running in the background. Also, try to use your phone in a cool environment and avoid direct sunlight or heat sources.

If your phone’s battery is draining too quickly, it suddenly shuts down even with a moderate battery percentage, or it isn’t holding a charge like it used to, these could be signs that your battery needs replacing. Additionally, physical signs of battery damage, such as swelling or leakage, are indications that you need to get a new battery as soon as possible.

To improve your phone’s performance, make sure to delete any unnecessary files or apps and free up storage space. Close any apps you’re not using to free up RAM. Also, try to avoid using task killer apps as they can interfere with your phone’s normal operations. Updating your phone’s operating system and apps regularly can also help optimize performance and fix any underlying issues.

If your phone won’t turn on, try performing a forced restart by holding down the power button for at least 20 seconds. If that doesn’t work, connect your phone to a charger and let it charge for a few minutes before trying to turn it on again. If your phone still doesn’t respond, you may need to take it to a repair shop or contact the manufacturer for further assistance.
