Recently, a mother from Australia was extremely panicked when she encountered a “nightmare” in the bathroom and had to seek help from the internet.

According to information posted on the Daily Mail, one day, Karyina from Queensland, Australia, lifted the mat in the bathroom to clean the floor and was shocked by the sight of “strange, white, long creatures”.

In a moment of panic, she thought they were some kind of worms that would crawl everywhere in her house. However, luckily it wasn’t that severe. It turned out that her rubber mat had worn out over time. It created small white rubber threads that looked just like worms and stuck to the floor.

The scene in the bathroom that scared the woman.

Perhaps Karyina tried a few methods, such as using tools to clean the rubber threads, but failed. She didn’t know how to remove the tightly stuck rubber threads from the floor tiles, so she had to turn to the internet for help.

“How would you deal with this? It’s from the bathroom mat, now it’s flowing and sticking to the floor. What should I do to get rid of it?” Karyina wrote in her post.

An internet user warns Karyina to be careful as it may damage the tiles.

Before offering a solution, some internet users said they also had vivid imagination and fear like Karyina.

“Oh my god, I thought they were worms. My heart skipped a beat,” commented one woman.

“Is there anyone else like me? I thought they were worms and wondered why there were so many of them,” another person shared the same opinion.

On the other hand, most internet users suggested ways to help Karyina deal with this problem. Some advised her to use dirt-removing products like Orange Power Sticky Spot or Goo Disolver.

“Oh no, buy Goo dirt cleaning solution. It’s extremely effective for anything sticky. Especially the rubber,” one person recommended.

“Boil water with a super-fast kettle and pour it on the floor, it will work,” another netizen wrote.

“If it’s tiles, take a little acetone solution from the auto repair shop – don’t use the one for nail polish remover – pour it on, wait about 5 minutes, then use a cloth to wipe it off,” another internet user suggested.

“Pour paint thinner on it, then use a plastic scraper to remove the paint,” or “The last time I used linseed oil and it worked pretty well” were the next suggestions given.

However, some people also cautioned Karyina to be careful not to damage the tiles.

“I’ve had this happen with mosaic tiles in my house, and the only thing that works without damaging the tiles is a wet cloth and a brush. Be careful when using strongly cleansing products as they can scratch or change the color of the tiles,” a woman warned.

Rubber mats are used by many families in the bathroom because they have some advantages such as being very effective in preventing slipping, waterproof, so they don’t need to be washed frequently like fabric mats. However, the problem of rubber mats flowing out after a period of use and sticking to the floor is annoying. You can apply one of the summarized methods below to solve this issue.

How to clean the stain caused by the rubber mat flowing out and sticking to the floor

Steam mop: Heat the area with the steam mop, then wipe the stain clean.

Use Goo cleaner: Pour this solution directly onto a cloth and wipe the dirty areas, then rinse or wipe with soapy water, repeat if necessary.

Boiling water: Pour boiling bubbling water from the kettle directly onto the area to be cleaned, let it absorb, then scrub with a sponge.

Acetone: Buy acetone from the auto repair shop, then pour it directly onto the affected area, let it absorb for about 4 minutes, then use a cloth to clean it.

Paint thinner: Pour it directly onto the affected tile, let it absorb as directed on the product, then use a plastic scraper to remove it.

Linseed oil: Pour linseed oil onto a cloth and wipe it in a circular motion.
