The need to “show off” your car is something many people enjoy. However, decorating your car without proper care can lead to unsafe situations while driving. Below are some areas of the car that you should not decorate at will.
Dashboard
The dashboard displays information such as speed, RPM, fuel, coolant temperature, and warning lights. These indicators and signs help the driver understand the vehicle’s operating status, thereby improving safety.
However, many people nowadays have a habit of placing decorations on the dashboard. Typically, these items are not securely fastened and can fall or collide with the driver when driving on difficult roads. Furthermore, they can obstruct the driver’s visibility in many cases, especially when there are excessive decorations in the car.
There have been many warnings about the dangers of decorating cars, but many people are still negligent. (Illustrative photo).
Rearview Mirror
One of the main reasons not to decorate the rearview mirror is that it obstructs visibility. Moreover, if heavy objects are hung for a long time, the rearview mirror can break or shatter upon collision with the decorations. This is particularly dangerous for cars that frequently travel long distances.
Glass Area
The windshield is an essential and necessary part of a car. Apart from blocking wind, dust, and rain, the car windshield also adds structural strength and provides safety for the occupants in case of collisions.
Decorating the car windshield is considered unnecessary as it can obstruct visibility while participating in traffic. Additionally, decorating it with hard objects or painting can affect the windshield in case of accidents.
It is advisable to refrain from placing personal items close to the windscreen, especially fragile items such as glass cups or vases. These objects not only obstruct visibility but also increase the risk of injury in case of collisions, posing a threat to the driver’s life.
License Plate
Decorating the license plate may seem aesthetic, but it can attract the attention of the police. Furthermore, some vehicle owners use colored tape to modify the printed numbers or erase the numbers on the plate.
In case the driver of the car or similar types of vehicles violates regulations regarding plate positioning, unclear or distorted numbers on the plate, they will be fined 800,000 – 1,000,000 VND according to Section c, Clause 3 Article 16 of Decree 100.

Steering Wheel
This is an important component that determines safety during vehicle operation. Drivers should not decorate or attach decals or other patterns to the steering wheel.
Drivers should also avoid hanging Feng Shui objects, talismans, or decorative items in front of them. These objects can cause obstructions and hinder visibility when turning or making sudden maneuvers, creating various dangers.
