In the design of a washing machine, the drum is likened to a bowl for washing clothes. Therefore, regularly cleaning the drum helps extend the lifespan of the washing machine and preserve the durability of the clothes.
Currently, all washing machines have a drum cleaning mode combined with specialized cleaning products to make this process easy and convenient.
The drum cleaning mode is understood as the process of the washing machine cleaning dirt, soap scum, fabric softener, or bacteria.
Regularly cleaning the drum helps extend the lifespan of the washing machine and preserve the durability of the clothes
Why use the drum cleaning mode?
Every day, clothes accumulate a lot of bacteria, dirt from the surrounding environment and are put into the washing machine for cleaning. However, the drum over time is also the place where bacteria are produced due to detergent residue, fabric softener residue, hair, etc.
These impurities will stick to the inside of the washing machine, the drainage pipe that is not usually visible. Many people often close the washing machine door after taking out the clothes, causing the inside of the drum to be damp and not dry. This is a favorable environment for bacteria to grow.
If the washing machine is in this condition for a long time, it will reduce the washing efficiency, the clothes are not clean, and they have an unpleasant odor. Moreover, it can even cause allergies, skin inflammation, affecting people’s health.
How to use the drum cleaning mode
Currently, all designed washing machines have a drum cleaning mode. Users only need to perform simple steps to clean the washing machine.
First, turn on the washing machine and activate the drum cleaning mode on the control panel. Depending on the type of washing machine, this mode will have different names on the control buttons.
With many modern washing machines, the cleaning mode also uses hot water from 60-100 degrees Celsius to completely kill bacteria.
After starting the washing machine, you can use specialized cleaning agents or lemon juice, vinegar to clean. Using these supporting products helps enhance the ability to clean bacteria and dirt stuck inside the washing machine.
After the cleaning process is finished, the drum will become clean, and users can continue with the normal laundry and drying. For older washing machines without a drum cleaning mode, users can use the soak mode as a substitute. Set the highest water level and press the usual washing mode.
To keep the drum always clean, we should clean the drum once a month.
Notes when cleaning the drum
– Cleaning the drum takes quite a long time, usually over 2 hours. Therefore, you should activate the drum cleaning mode on weekends. In addition, you need to regularly wipe the washing machine door, scrub the trays for detergent, fabric softener, rubber seals.
– It is recommended to use specialized cleaning agents for maximum effectiveness. Limit the use of chlorine bleach as using it improperly will damage the drum and harm your clothes.
– Opening the washing machine lid after completing the drum cleaning process will allow the drum to naturally dry and prevent dampness.
