During cooking, every woman must have experienced the situation of “goldfish brain”, forgetting that they are cooking and doing something else. Then, when they go back to the kitchen, the shiny pot has turned black. The burnt food is already a given, but the thought of having to scrub the pot afterwards is truly a nightmare.
Do not throw away the citrus peel after using it, instead store them in the refrigerator.
On a culinary forum, Ms. Dang Hong Hanh shared a simple and cheap trick to remove burnt residue. And that is to use fresh citrus peel.
Citrus peel after being boiled together with the burnt pot.
Ms. Hanh shared that the citrus peel should not be thrown away after use. Instead, store it in the refrigerator for future use. “After squeezing out the juice from the fresh citrus peel, don’t throw it in the trash bin, but instead put it in the ‘refrigerator compartment’ because it is truly useful for people like me who often forget while cooking”, Ms. Hanh humorously said.
The burnt residue will come off easily.
And the citrus peel that Ms. Hanh stored can be used to clean the burnt pot. When the pot used for braising fish, meat… becomes blackened, Ms. Hanh took out the stored citrus peel from the refrigerator and put it in the burnt pot, filling it with water and then boiling it for about 30 minutes. When the citrus peel becomes soft, you can continue to mash or cut the citrus peel into small pieces and rub it on the bottom of the pot. At this point, the acid in the citrus will automatically dissolve the blackened burnt residue. Scrub the pot as usual, and the pot will shine like new.
Easily scrubbed clean
If the pot has been used for a long time and has become discolored and dirty, you can also follow the method above to make the pot clean and shiny again.
