Suitable Types of Trees to Place in Your Bathroom

The bathroom is an ideal place for plants to thrive indoors. The high humidity and warmth typically found in bathrooms are the perfect conditions that most tropical plant species need. So if your indoor plants are struggling, gather them up and place them near the bathtub or sink. However, not all species can tolerate the lower light levels of a windowless bathroom, so you should do your research and may need to provide some supplemental lighting for them.

1. Orchids

Orchids are plants that are definitely worth trying to grow in the bathroom. They will keep beautiful flowers for many months. The wet and warm conditions in most bathrooms are perfect for these high-humidity plants to grow in their bark medium. Some easier-to-care-for orchid varieties include Phalaenopsis, Oncidium, and Dendrobium, all of which will do well with light from the bathroom window.

2. ZZ Plant

One of the most popular indoor vine plants is the ZZ Plant. It comes in various leaf sizes, colors, and shapes. Keep the plant away from direct sunlight and do not let the soil dry out, but also avoid overwatering. ZZ Plants will look especially beautiful when decorated in a hanging basket in the bathroom or on a high shelf. Over time, they can develop attractive speckled leaves with yellow veins amidst the green color.

3. Golden Pothos

This golden pothos has bold neon leaves that add color and vitality to your bathroom. They are easier to care for than golden pothos as they have brighter leaves.

4. Spider Plant

Indoor gardening is easier with spider plants. They can tolerate low light, enjoy a bit of moisture, and their baby shoots are adorable. You can also let them dry out between waterings, and mature plants can go up to two weeks without water.

5. Lucky Bamboo

The Chinese lucky bamboo has a deep green color, making it suitable for placing next to a bathroom window. They need indirect sunlight, moist soil, good drainage, and protection from drafts. Because they are high-humidity plants, they will thrive in the warm environment of your bathroom.

8. Watermelon Peperomia

This special variety, known as the Watermelon Peperomia, is super easy to care for, enjoys humidity, and only needs watering when the top layer of soil feels dry.

9. Peace Lily

The Peace Lily is an indigenous species of South America, requiring little light to thrive. It prefers to be grown in moist soil and is highly humidity tolerant, making it ideal for keeping in a bathroom with low light. Moreover, you can train the plant to bend the branches so that it can climb onto the window sill or a wooden shelf.
