1. Preparation

– Soft towel and clean clothes for the baby

– A clean and well-ventilated area for the baby to lie down, preferably a wind-shielded spot

– Play some soft music in the background

– Wash your hands before starting the massage

2. Let’s Get Started

Spread out the soft towel and gently place your baby on it. Rub your palms together to generate warmth, and then add 2-4 drops of baby massage oil into your palms. Distribute the oil evenly across both palms before starting the massage.

Face Massage

– Begin with the face and forehead: Gently rub the forehead, moving outwards towards the temples

– Using your thumbs, gently stroke your baby’s eyebrows 3-5 times

– Lightly stroke the cheeks, and then massage in a spiral motion from the nose outwards and from top to bottom

Chest Massage

– Gently massage from the chest towards the shoulders

– With your hands, stroke from the neck towards the shoulders

Tummy Massage

– Keep your fingers together and gently massage around your baby’s belly button in a clockwise direction. Be very gentle and avoid applying too much pressure on the tummy. Also, take care not to let any massage oil drip into your baby’s belly button

Arm Massage

– With your left hand, gently lift your baby’s arm

– Using your right hand, stroke gently from the shoulder to the wrist, repeating this motion 2-3 times

– Gently squeeze your baby’s arm from the shoulder to the wrist, and then gently massage each finger

– Repeat the same steps for the other arm

Leg Massage

– Similar to the arm massage, use one hand to hold your baby’s leg while using the other hand to stroke gently from the thigh to the ankle, repeating this motion 3-5 times

– Keep your fingers together and place them on your baby’s thigh. Massage in a circular motion from the thigh down to the ankle

– Bend your baby’s knee towards the tummy, and then straighten the leg out, gently shaking it to relax the calf muscle

– Lift your baby’s leg and use your fingers to gently press and stroke from the heel to the toes, repeating this motion 3-5 times. Then, gently massage each toe

– Repeat the same steps for the other leg

Back Massage

Gently turn your baby onto their stomach. Using both hands, alternately stroke downwards from the neck to the bottom, along the spine (avoid applying pressure directly on the spine as it is still developing during these early years). Then, massage outwards towards the sides of the back in a spiral motion, from the center to the sides and from top to bottom. Repeat these motions 3-5 times

Remember to add more baby massage oil to your palms as needed during the massage, but be careful not to use too much oil. Always be gentle and use moderate pressure, paying close attention to your baby’s reactions and adjusting accordingly.
