In August 2021, the domestic pepper market was seen fluctuating in two waves. In the first half of the month, pepper prices in the domestic market increased sharply compared to the end of July 2021. Despite the complex developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, trading activities in the domestic pepper market were quite vibrant.

1Domestic Pepper Prices

Pepper prices today in the domestic market ranged from VND 74,500 to VND 78,000 per kg in the key growing regions.

Specifically, the latest pepper prices in the following provinces are:

Dong Nai: VND 74,500 per kg
Gia Lai, the lowest in the market: VND 75,000 per kg
Dak Lak and Dak Nong: VND 76,000 per kg
Binh Phuoc: VND 77,000 per kg
Ba Ria – Vung Tau, the highest: VND 78,000 per kg

Compared to the beginning of the month, pepper prices are currently VND 3,000 per kg higher in most localities, with Dong Nai having a lower increase of about VND 2,000 to VND 2,500 per kg.

In the world market, today’s pepper price on August 31 at the Kochi Exchange in India remains temporarily halted due to a lack of customers. In the most recent transaction, the Indian pepper price at the Kochi Exchange stood at 41,300 rupees per quintal.

According to KT&DT, in India, the Kochi Exchange has temporarily halted futures trading due to a lack of customers, leading to insufficient funds to cover expenses.
