Headlight Cleaning
Cars that are frequently driven are prone to grime and stains. Even with regular cleaning, headlights can be challenging to keep spotless and are often overlooked. A clever trick to save time and money is to use toothpaste.
Start by spraying water on the surface of the headlights and wiping them down with a cloth. Then, apply some toothpaste to a soft cloth and gently rub the headlights from the inside out. For a shiny finish, repeat this step several times. Finally, rinse with water and dry them.
However, it’s important to avoid using toothpaste that contains abrasive particles, crystals, or similar ingredients as these can scratch the headlights.

Car Interior Cleaning
Toothpaste can effectively clean stains from car seats. If your car seats are extremely dirty and can’t be cleaned with plain water, try the following steps:
Combine toothpaste with a round brush that has a hole in the middle, a drill, and a spray bottle. Attach the drill bit to the brush, then apply some toothpaste to the brush and add a small amount of water.
When the drill is turned on, it will spin the brush, creating a powerful cleaning tool that removes stains from the car’s interior. Depending on the severity of the stains, this process should take around 2-3 minutes. Afterward, make sure to dry the area and verify that the stains have been removed. For even better results, baking soda can be mixed with the toothpaste.
Emergency Use
While on the road or in an emergency, toothpaste can be a temporary solution to quickly clean any stains on your car’s exterior. It’s convenient to keep a tube of toothpaste in your car as it doesn’t take up much space.
Additionally, toothpaste can be applied with a small brush or sponge to clean hard-to-reach areas, such as the wheel wells or intricate details on the wheels.
Scratch Removal
Toothpaste is not only useful for cleaning but also serves as a polishing agent.
For minor scratches, toothpaste can help remove them and restore the shine. It’s best to use a non-abrasive, mint-free toothpaste that is not in gel form and does not contain whitening agents or particles.
However, experts advise that toothpaste is most effective for treating light and small scratches. More prominent and larger scratches may not show a significant improvement when using toothpaste.
Prevent Water Accumulation on Rearview Mirrors

After cleaning and drying your rearview mirror, apply a small amount of toothpaste to the surface and wipe it off with a cloth until the mirror is free of any toothpaste residue. Then, spray water on the mirror. The areas treated with toothpaste will repel water and prevent condensation.
This effect is due to the surfactants in the toothpaste, which prevent water droplet formation or condensation. In this case, toothpaste acts similarly to a specialized anti-fogging agent. It’s important to use a smooth, non-abrasive toothpaste to achieve the desired effect.
While toothpaste has multiple uses for car cleaning, experts recommend using it only as a temporary solution and not as a replacement for regular car maintenance and professional cleaning.
