Vo Thi Thanh Thao (30 years old, in Ho Chi Minh City) shared with Thanh Nien her tips and tricks for making office lunches fast, convenient, and delicious.

Thao said that she and her husband have a 3-year-old child. Both of them love homemade meals, so they bring lunch boxes every day. Thao cooks according to the family’s taste, clean and safe. The couple also agreed that each person has their own task, such as cooking for the wife while the husband handles miscellaneous tasks, taking care of the child… so that they can leave for work without being late and still have a good lunch box to bring along.

“I marinate the food in advance from the evening and wake up early to cook. Because of the busy work, I often go to the market to buy groceries at the end of the week. Then I divide the food and store it in the refrigerator. Before cooking, I marinate the food in advance to save time and let the food absorb the flavors better,” Thao shared. To keep the rice warm until noon, Thao usually pours hot water under the lunch box.

“I often look up menus online to refer to what others are cooking and buy suitable groceries. I have a young child, so I don’t have much time,” Thao shared.

“Occasionally, my husband and I still eat out, but because of his sensitive stomach, we are very limited. At home, we repeat the main dish during the day, only changing the soup or other vegetables in the evening. I cook mainly in the morning, cooking for the whole day so that I have time to play with my child in the evening,” the woman said.

After lightly boiling them, she drains the water, then stir-fries each type of vegetable with sauce such as oyster sauce, soy sauce, seasoning powder… When the rice is cooked, she takes it out, rolls it up in a lunch box, and brings it to work.
