The Mobile World Group and Samsung Vina Electronics Company have recently joined forces to launch the ‘Join Hands to Process Used Batteries’ campaign nationwide. This meaningful activity is closely linked to the commitment and sustainable development vision of both parties. The Mobile World Group and Samsung Vina Electronics Company share the same goal of bringing the most practical solutions to protect the environment.

1Join Hands to Process Used Batteries Program

The “Join Hands to Process Used Batteries” program is a continuation of Samsung’s meaningful “Connect to Live Green” campaign. It is also a program that falls under the commitment and vision towards a sustainable development environment of both parties. The Mobile World Group and Samsung Vina Electronics Company together aim to bring practical and environmentally friendly measures to improve the living environment.

According to the program, there will be collection boxes for used batteries (made from the eco-friendly packaging of Samsung TVs) placed at our stores (all locations in Ho Chi Minh City), The Mobile World, Dien May Xanh (100 locations in 3 major cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang), as well as Samsung service centers and offices.

People can collect used batteries, put them in sealed boxes, and send them to the above locations. The batteries will be transported to Samsung’s factory and strictly processed according to proper procedures, ensuring environmental safety.

Mr. Dang Minh Luom, Member of the Board of Directors in charge of Sustainable Development Strategy of The Mobile World Group, shared: “The Mobile World Group is delighted to implement this program, which is one of the actions to realize the sustainable development vision of the entire group. We hope that with the extensive system of The Mobile World, Dien May XANH, and our stores nationwide, the meaningful message of the program will strongly resonate with customers.”

2The Significance of Properly Processing Used Batteries

The cores of used batteries need to be safely disposed of as hazardous waste. A single improperly disposed-of battery can negatively impact the environment for an extended period.

For instance, a single improperly handled battery can contaminate up to 500 liters of water or 1 cubic meter of soil for 50 years. When burned, the harmful substances in the batteries can be released into the toxic smoke, causing air pollution.

Human exposure to these toxins through food, water, or inhalation can have severe health consequences. Therefore, proper battery disposal not only positively impacts environmental protection but also raises user awareness of this issue.
