The vaccine passport is a digital certificate proving an individual has been fully vaccinated against Covid (14 days after the second dose), or confirmed as recovered from Covid (with antibodies within the following six months). It also records negative test results and is usually stored as a QR code.
The Covid-19 green and yellow cards are displayed as QR codes
This card allows individuals to participate in public activities, use transportation services, and attend large gatherings, aiding the government in controlling the pandemic and returning life to a ‘new normal’.
1 Who is eligible for the Covid-19 green and yellow cards?
According to the draft by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, the green and yellow cards are issued based on an electronic database, indicating that an individual meets one of the mandatory requirements:
Requirements for the Green Card
Individuals who have received two doses and are past the 14-day mark will be granted a green card
- Fully vaccinated individuals (with AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Sinopharm, or Sputnik V vaccines…) who are past the 14-day mark after the second dose.
- Individuals who have received a single-dose vaccine (such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen…) and are 14 days past their vaccination date.
- Recovered Covid patients (F0) who have completed their quarantine period and are within 180 days of recovery.
- Self-isolated and recovered F0 cases must provide proof of antibodies through testing.
Requirements for the Yellow Card
Individuals who have received a single dose and are past the 14-day mark will be granted a yellow card
- Partially vaccinated individuals who have received one dose of a two-dose vaccine (AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Sinopharm, or Sputnik V) and are 14 days past their first dose.
- Individuals with regular negative test results (every 3 days)
2 How are the Green and Yellow Cards used?
The green and yellow cards are displayed as QR codes. Individuals need to use a smartphone application to perform tasks such as: generating a QR code for travel, accessing public places, attending work, making health declarations, registering for vaccination or testing, and checking in at various locations.
The QR code will automatically display a color corresponding to the individual’s epidemiological status and vaccination history. If an individual does not own a smartphone, they will receive a code via text message or have their QR code printed by a government agency.
To ensure a safe transition to the ‘new normal’ and prevent the spread of the pandemic, each individual must take responsibility for protecting themselves and the community by wearing a face mask in public places.
