In today’s evolving and integrating society, access to advanced childcare and education methods is easier than ever. However, while nutrition, education, and talent development for children are becoming more accessible, oral care remains a challenging task with many specific issues. Despite understanding the importance of oral hygiene, many parents still struggle to establish a systematic and scientific routine for their children.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh, a parent of a 10-year-old child, shared: “I used to think that brushing teeth twice a day was enough until my child had a mild tooth decay. Then I realized that just brushing is not sufficient; I also need to guide my child to do it correctly and maintain more scientific habits. But with a busy schedule, it’s challenging to supervise my child every day.”
The abundance of information also confuses parents. How can children have healthy teeth? Which method is truly effective? Many parents are still seeking answers to these questions.
A simple yet comprehensive solution to oral care challenges
To address these challenges, the Smart Habit project, initiated by Lotte Japan, has introduced a breakthrough solution by providing a systematic and scientific oral care model. Inspired by the successful model in Finland, the program helps children develop good oral care habits from an early age.
One of the project’s highlights is the “Four-Leaf Clover” model, which comprises essential habits for maintaining good oral health:
– Brushing teeth correctly: Brush teeth at least twice a day using the proper technique to remove plaque.
– Healthy diet: Limit sugary foods and increase consumption of teeth-friendly foods.
– Use fluoride toothpaste
– Regular dental check-ups
The fifth habit, which marks a turning point for the project, is the addition of Xylitol, a natural sweetener that inhibits bacteria, neutralizes acid in the teeth, and prevents tooth decay. Chewing sugar-free gum with Xylitol after meals stimulates saliva production, supporting natural oral hygiene.
Ms. Dinh Lan Phuong, mother of an 8-year-old, said: “I learned about Smart Habit from a friend and found it suitable. Thanks to the ‘Four-Leaf Clover’ model, I can help my child practice systematically, easily follow, and maintain good habits in the long term. Especially, this method helps parents and children form good habits without too much pressure.”
Ms. Le Thi Phuong shared: “Before, brushing teeth was a forced duty for my child. But since combining it with Xylitol supplementation as guided by the Smart Habit project, I’ve noticed my child’s increased interest. Now, oral care has become a natural part of their life.”
Relieving parents’ worries about their children’s oral health
After applying the ‘Four-Leaf Clover’ model from the Smart Habit project, many families have witnessed noticeable changes. This method not only helps children maintain good habits but also motivates them to take initiative in caring for their oral health.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh shared: “Previously, I thought milk teeth would fall out eventually, so it was enough for my child to brush their teeth regularly. But since learning about Smart Habit, I realized that oral care should start early because habits formed during the tooth replacement stage significantly impact permanent teeth. Thanks to the project, I have a clearer direction.”
The project has not only brought positive changes to individual families but also created a strong wave in the parent community. More and more parents are sharing their experiences on social media, forming an ecosystem that helps children develop good oral care habits.
Ms. Xuan Nguyen, mother of an 11-year-old, shared: “I applied the ‘Four-Leaf Clover’ model for my child and shared it on Facebook. Surprisingly, many parents showed interest and wanted to try it. Gradually, more and more families joined, creating a positive trend in the community. This project has not only changed my family but also spread a more scientific and healthy lifestyle.”
Additionally, many children who participated in the project have changed their attitudes towards oral care. If brushing teeth or visiting the dentist used to be unpleasant tasks, they now feel more comfortable and proactive.
Ms. Trinh Thuy Lan shared: “Before, reminding my child to brush their teeth was a constant battle. But now, they do it voluntarily without much prompting. Especially, they are no longer afraid of dental visits and feel more confident knowing that their oral health is improving day by day.”
The Smart Habit project not only helps Vietnamese children achieve healthy teeth but also instills self-care awareness from an early age. With its systematic, scientific, and easy-to-implement approach, it is considered a practical solution for Vietnamese families to rest assured about their children’s oral health.
Smart Habit is a project aimed at changing parents’ perceptions of oral care, offering a comprehensive yet easy-to-implement solution to establish core habits that contribute to the oral health of future generations. These habits are summarized and visualized in the form of a “Four-Leaf Clover,” which includes: – Brushing teeth correctly – Developing a healthy diet – Using fluoride toothpaste – Regular dental check-ups – Supplementing with Xylitol after each meal by chewing sugar-free gum, LOTTE XYLITOL The project continues to gain momentum, helping many Vietnamese families build sustainable and scientific oral care habits. |
