- Mung Bean Porridge
In traditional medicine, mung beans are considered cooling and detoxifying. They are suitable for people with headaches caused by wind-heat. Mung beans also help relieve sunstroke and are ideal for headaches accompanied by fever.
To cook mung bean porridge, simply combine about 100 grams of mung beans with 50 grams of rice, wash them, and put them in a pot with just enough water. Cook until soft, then season with salt to taste and consume while warm.
- Lotus Seed and Longan Porridge
Lotus seeds and longans are known for their calming, spleen-tonifying, and blood-boosting properties. Dishes made from these ingredients are perfect for those who suffer from insomnia and headaches.
Combine 100 grams of sticky rice with 30 grams of lotus seeds to make a porridge. When the porridge is cooked, add in the longans and bring it to a boil. Consume this porridge while it’s hot.

- Porridge with Spring Onion and Perilla
Spring onion and perilla have warming properties and help open the meridians and disperse cold. In cases of headaches caused by wind-cold or flu, dishes with these ingredients can be used to warm the body, relieve headaches, and alleviate flu symptoms.
Cook porridge with spring onion and perilla, and consume it warm to induce sweating and expel the cold pathogen. Note that this dish should be avoided during hot weather or when body temperature is already high.
- Chrysanthemum Tea
Herbal teas offer numerous benefits. For those experiencing headaches due to wind-heat or stress, these teas can help improve the condition, soothe the nerves, and clear heat.
Use 5-10 grams of dried chrysanthemum flowers combined with 10 grams of mint leaves. Steep them in hot water for about 10 minutes to make a soothing tea. You can add rock sugar or honey to enhance the flavor.
- Meat Stew with Sheng Di and Tian Ma
According to traditional medicine, Tian Ma has a sweet taste and a neutral nature. It helps to activate blood circulation, calm the liver, and restrain wind. Sheng Di nourishes the blood, soothes the mind, and clears heat.
Take 500 grams of cleaned meat and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Stew it together with 10 grams of Tian Ma and 15 grams of Sheng Di until tender. Consume this dish while it’s hot.
- Pork Brain Steamed with Tian Ma
This dish is suitable for those suffering from headaches due to stress and fatigue. Pork brain is considered a brain tonic in traditional medicine, while Tian Ma and hong tao (red dates) help activate blood circulation and calm the mind.
You will need 1-2 sets of cleaned pork brains placed in a bowl. Add about 10 grams of Tian Ma and 4 hong tao. Steam this mixture until cooked. Season to taste and consume while hot.
- Pumpkin Soup with Goji Berries

Use 20 grams of百合, 30 grams of black beans, and 50 grams of rice. Cook the rice and beans until soft, then add in the百合. Consume this dish while it’s hot.
