Vy, a 32-year-old woman, considers herself lucky to have found her soulmate in Kuba Falcon Falek (a 41-year-old chef). Their cross-cultural love story and blended family life are truly inspiring.

Vy and her foreign husband met online.
How did their love story begin?
Vy and Jakub connected through a dating app, primarily to meet foreigners and improve her English skills. Among the many people she chatted with, Jakub stood out with his sincerity.
His initial message was simple and honest: “Hi, My name is Jakub I live in the UK, I love cooking, I’m a chef please text me back if you have time.” He then sent her pictures of the dishes he had cooked. Touched by his sincerity, Vy responded, and the rest is history.
When Vy first saw Jakub’s profile picture, she thought he was ugly and tacky. He had a wild look with his beard and was pictured sitting on a dune buggy similar to the ones in Phan Thiet, Vietnam.
However, it was his sincerity that won her over. After only three days of chatting, he expressed his desire to come to Vietnam and marry her. Vy was initially skeptical, thinking he might be crazy or a scammer (laughs). But when he visited Vietnam and gave her 1 billion VND (approximately 30,000 GBP), she began to trust his love for her.
How long has her foreign husband been living with her in Vietnam?
After visiting the UK and finding the quiet life there unsuitable, Vy returned to Vietnam. She told Jakub that if he didn’t follow her, they would have to part ways. So, he sold his car and house and moved to Vietnam to be with her.
Just as he was about to fly to Vietnam, he contracted COVID-19 and had to miss his flight. After a three-week quarantine, he finally made it to Vietnam, only to undergo another three-week quarantine. By the time he arrived, Vy had already given birth to their baby, who was over a month old and had not yet met his father.
What is the relationship like between the stepfather and the children?
Jakub is incredibly loving towards all the children, regardless of whether they are adopted, biological, or stepchildren. Vy has one adopted child born in 2010 and one biological child born in 2013. From the first day he arrived in Vietnam, he took care of the children.
He knows their shoe and clothing sizes, their favorite colors, and takes them to sports, boxing, and art classes. Vy has never seen a stepfather as dedicated as Jakub, who treats all the children as his own. Even after six years together, he remains as loving and supportive as the day they met.
Are there any special moments or gestures that Jakub has shown towards the children that have touched Vy’s heart?
Once, when Vy disagreed with the children taking boxing classes, Jakub secretly paid for their lessons because he knew how much they enjoyed it. Whenever Vy scolds the children, Jakub steps in to calm her down. As a result, the children often turn to him instead of her.
How has Vy’s life as a single mother changed since meeting and marrying Jakub?
Jakub is a typical Asian man trapped in a European body. He is extremely patriarchal and wants Vy to follow his lead in everything, from clothing to food choices and household arrangements. As a result, Vy gets to relax and focus on her work while he takes care of the rest.
Before, she had to juggle the roles of both father and mother, but now she only steps in when she wants to.
Are there any interesting stories about the birth of their two mixed-race children?
Their second child was born prematurely at seven months. Vy only had time to send Jakub a quick message saying, “I’m going into labor.” Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, she returned to Vietnam alone, and he had to wait for the next available flight.
As she lay on the operating table, he hugged her twin sister and cried and prayed for her safety. Thankfully, the baby was born healthy and did not require incubation.
For the birth of their third child, Jakub was allowed in the delivery room. Vy had an epidural, and he kept cracking jokes, making her laugh so hard that the entire operating table shook! She laughed from the moment she entered the room until the moment she gave birth.
How do Vy and her husband, who both have their careers, divide their time between work and caring for their four children?
Both Vy and her husband work remotely, allowing them to spend most of their time with their family as long as they have an internet connection. As a result, they have a very close-knit family.
Was it her husband’s idea to hire three nannies to help with the children?
With a large family, it was only natural to hire more nannies. Interestingly, Jakub also acts as Vy’s nanny (laughs). Due to his OCD, he prefers to take care of things himself rather than let the nannies do it.
Has she faced any challenges in raising her children in a multicultural family?
There have been numerous challenges due to cultural differences, especially when it comes to parenting styles. For example, Vy believes in teaching her children to always consider others, while Jakub’s education emphasizes self-development and occasional selfishness to strengthen oneself before helping others.
These differences have led to many arguments. Vy usually gives in to maintain a peaceful home, but she later explains her perspective to the children gently.
If she had to describe her husband in three words regarding his role as a husband and father, what would they be?
Patriarchal, caring, and sincere.
Do they plan to have more children, or do they feel that four is enough to showcase their good genes?
While Vy and her husband love having a large family, they realize that their time and attention are already stretched thin with four children. So, for now, four seems like the perfect number.
Thank you for sharing your story, Vy!
