(TNO) The world is home to 1,826 billionaires, with many countries and regions boasting hundreds of incredibly wealthy individuals. According to Forbes magazine’s list, Business Insider has compiled a surprising ranking of the countries and regions with the highest number of billionaires worldwide.

Although China is home to around 400 billionaires, it is not the country with the highest number of billionaires globally. Among the top 15 countries and regions with the highest number of billionaires, the five ranked lowest to highest are Taiwan, Kuwait, Japan, Lebanon, and Norway.
Taiwan, with 33 billionaires and a population of roughly 23.46 million people, has a billionaire ratio of 1/710,804, placing it 15th in the world. The Taiwanese have amassed wealth through their strong presence in the financial and trade sectors, particularly with China. Japan, on the other hand, the world’s third-largest economy, is the birthplace of 536 billionaires. While this is the highest number of billionaires in any country, it translates to one billionaire per over 321.36 million people.

10. Israel
Number of billionaires: 17 people. Population: 8.36 million people. Billionaire ratio: 1/491,653
