1. Avoid cleaning windows on sunny days
Cleaning windows on a hot sunny day can make the process worse. On sunny days, the windows dry faster, and if you clean them at this time, your windows will have streaks. Cleaning the windows while it’s hot outside will take more time to clean the window area.
It’s better to wait for cloudy days, cleaning the windows will be much easier, and you can even clean them lightly.
2. Hand wash wooden cutting board
Never soak a wooden cutting board in water, as it will produce bacteria and damage the wood. Also, keep them away from the dishwasher and store them upright to allow the wood to dry evenly on both sides. If you soak a wooden cutting board in water, it will take more time to clean it and still not yield good results. Therefore, after using a wooden cutting board, clean it immediately.
3. Don’t clean carpets with soap
You might want to use your best effort to scrub stains with soap to make them disappear quickly on your house’s carpets. However, this method will not help as you expected.
The stains will still be there and annoy you. You can soak them in salt water, cornstarch, or vinegar. After a short time, they will be as clean and new.
4. Avoid mixing cleaning chemicals
Mixing some cleaning chemicals together can create dangerous chemical reactions that are harmful to your health and belongings. For example, bleach and vinegar create chlorine gas. Similarly, hydrogen peroxide with vinegar becomes highly corrosive acid.
So never pour them into cleaning any object in your house just because it’s convenient.
5. Clean from top to bottom
You may not remember which areas you have cleaned and which ones you haven’t. That is why you should wipe from the top down to avoid dust spreading all over the room.
For example, if you clean the floor first and then dust the furniture, all the particles will fall onto the floor. Start with higher shelves, gradually move down, then finish cleaning by wiping and/or vacuuming the floor.
6. Use vinegar instead of bleach to remove mold
Bleach does not remove mold, it only masks it by removing its color. The best remedy is vinegar, which eliminates over 80% of mold species. It also prevents its regrowth. Spraying vinegar on areas prone to mold at least once a week will inhibit mold growth.
