With basic knowledge and simple steps, you can build a skincare routine that suits your specific needs.
Identify your skin type
Dry skin, oily skin, combination skin, or sensitive skin all require different skincare products and methods. This helps you choose the right products and avoid unwanted issues.
Cleanse your skin
You should cleanse thoroughly, at least 2 steps including makeup removal and face wash. You should choose cleansing products with a low pH. Because on the market there are many types of makeup remover products that do not completely remove dirt or completely emulsify, they still exist greasy; therefore, you need to use a cleanser to ensure.
For dry skin, choose products with moisturizing and hydrating functions. For sensitive skin, acne-prone skin, you can prioritize natural and gentle products for the skin, those with oily skin can choose facial cleansers with the ability to remove sebum.
Should have 2-3 nights of using enzyme or chemical exfoliants with the lowest concentration for the skin to gradually adapt. Exfoliating dead cells will promote the continuous process of skin renewal.
Apply serum
For oily and acne-prone skin, prioritize lightweight and fast-absorbing products with oil-controlling ingredients such as niacinamide, salicylic acid, tea tree oil… If your skin is dry and dehydrated, choose thicker products with the ability to provide moisture.
For skin with melasma, dark spots, you can supplement with melanin-reducing ingredients such as azelaic acid, arbutin, kojic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid, tranexamic acid, vitamin C, niacinamide… Because it’s just beginning, you should choose serums with low concentrations of active ingredients to avoid irritation.
Lock in moisture for your skin
If you have oily skin, choose gel-type products that absorb quickly without clogging pores and causing acne.
If you have dry skin, you can choose thicker creams or nourishing oils to maintain a moisture barrier on the skin, providing moisture and protecting the skin from external factors.
Don’t forget sunscreen
If you have oily skin, choose a liquid sunscreen with chemical sunscreen ingredients to avoid feeling heavy and clogging pores, which can cause acne. If you have dry skin, choose a thicker sunscreen to give your skin a more moisturized feeling.
Changes cannot happen immediately. Be patient and control the testing of products.
