Cleaning Mattresses
The mattress we sleep on every day can get very dirty if we only change the bedsheet. Sweat, dead skin, dust, fleas, lice… all can appear on your mattress. But very few people think about cleaning it because most mattresses are big, heavy, cumbersome, and it’s very hard to find a way to clean them. This is a serious mistake, especially for people with respiratory problems.
However, there is a way for you to easily clean your mattress, without much effort, by using baking soda:
Strip the bedsheet, pillowcases, and pillow covers, wash them thoroughly in the washing machine and then hang them out in the sun.
Add about 10-20 drops of essential oil into the box of baking soda, then close the lid and shake well. You can choose scents like lavender, chamomile, sandalwood… These scents help with relaxation and soothing the soul. Not only that, essential oils also have natural antimicrobial properties.
Sprinkle the mixed baking soda all over the mattress, rub it evenly, and let it sit for at least 1 hour.
Then, use a vacuum cleaner to carefully suck up the powder on the mattress. The powder you suck up will also contain dust, moisture, and even mites… So at this point, your mattress is truly clean and fresh!
Besides cleaning mattresses, baking soda also has some other amazing uses:
Eliminate Shoe Odor
Sprinkle a little baking soda inside your shoes and wear them as usual. Baking soda helps absorb moisture and eliminate odor effectively.
Clean Pots and Pans
If you accidentally burn a pot or pan while cooking, don’t worry, just soak them in water for about 15 minutes. Then, mix baking soda with a little water to create a thick paste and use it to scrub the cookware like usual. The burnt stains will easily come off.
You can also apply this trick to gas stoves – the kitchen utensil that is often charred and hard to clean. With just a box of baking soda, you can make your kitchen shine.
Clean Bathroom
You can use baking soda to scrub the sink, bathtub, floor, or mix baking soda with water to clean shower curtains. Baking soda balances the pH level and makes our cleaning products more effective.
