There are many types of heating devices on the market, such as heaters, air conditioners, electric beds, electric blankets, and other electrical devices. But why do few people use air conditioners for heating in the winter? Here are the reasons.

1. Makes the air dry and uncomfortable for users

In the market, there are one-way air conditioners (only for cooling) and two-way air conditioners (for both cooling and heating). Air conditioners cool well but do not heat well.

The hot air blown out by the air conditioner is very dry, causing dry and uncomfortable skin and lips. When heating, the noise from the air conditioner’s condenser is also quite loud, affecting sleep.

In addition, the heating effect of the air conditioner is limited; heat mainly concentrates on the upper part of the room, so the upper part will feel warmer, but the feet will still feel cold when touching the floor.

2. High electricity consumption

As we know, whether for cooling or heating, air conditioners consume a relatively high amount of electricity. However, air conditioners consume more electricity when used for heating, usually 2-3 times higher. The air conditioner consumes more electricity when set to heating mode compared to other heating devices.

The large electricity consumption, combined with the increasing electricity price tiers, increases the electricity bill. This is the main reason why most families do not use air conditioners for heating in the winter.

Another point is that the lower the outside temperature, the more electricity the air conditioner consumes for heating. When the outside temperature is above 5 degrees Celsius, the heating effect is better. When the outside temperature is 0 degrees Celsius, the heating effect is not good and, of course, consumes a lot of electricity.

3. The heating effect of air conditioners in cold areas is negligible

Although air conditioners have a heating function, the heating effect in cold areas is negligible. Once the temperature reaches extremely low levels, it is better to use a heater.
