Nowadays, many families choose to freeze meat and fish in the refrigerator to save shopping time. When they need to use it, they usually thaw the meat before starting the cooking process. However, the thawing process often takes several hours or even a whole day.
To solve this problem effectively, there are several methods of meat thawing that you can apply to ensure quickness and maintain food quality.
Salt thawing method
First, prepare a large enough bowl of water to submerge the meat. Add 2 tablespoons of salt and stir well. Place the meat in the saltwater and soak for about 10 minutes. Then, you will notice that the meat becomes tender.
No need to soak the meat until it is completely tender, just achieve the desired level of tenderness. Keeping the meat slightly firm will make it easier to slice thinly and look more visually appealing. If you want the meat to be more tender, you can cut the meat into halves and continue soaking in water for a few more minutes.
White vinegar thawing method
To keep the freshness and thaw quickly, you can use white vinegar. Mix white vinegar with water in a bowl, then place the frozen meat in it and soak for about 5-10 minutes. White vinegar contains acetic acid, which helps lower the freezing point of water and accelerate the thawing process. You can also combine the use of salt and white vinegar to optimize the meat thawing process.
Sugar water thawing method
To perform this method, pour warm water (about 40 degrees) into a bowl and add sugar (the ratio of boiling water to cold water is 1:5). Stir the mixture well and place the frozen meat in the sugar water. The sugar molecules will help melt the ice crystals in the meat quickly. In just 7-10 minutes, your meat will become tender and ready to use.
Ginger thawing method
Using ginger to thaw meat not only keeps the natural red color of the meat but also enhances the delicious aroma. Start by preparing a bowl of warm water, about 40 degrees. Crush some ginger and place it in the water. Then, put the frozen meat in the ginger water to thaw. Ginger, with its warming properties, will help speed up the thawing process.
