Duck Feather Plucking with Vinegar or White Wine
White wine and vinegar not only have the ability to eliminate odors but also help to expedite the process of removing duck feathers, making it easier than ever to clean duck feathers.
Step 1: After you have eviscerated the duck, soak them in a basin of cold water so that the water is evenly absorbed throughout the duck’s body.
Step 2: Next, take out the duck and pour a little vinegar or white wine onto the duck’s body and let it sit for about 10 minutes. This is a very important secret to make the process of cleaning duck feathers easier.
Step 3: Prepare a large pot of hot water at only around 80 degrees Celsius, not boiling at 100 degrees, and then immerse the duck in it. Normally, most people immerse the duck in boiling water, however, this inadvertently makes the feather plucking process more difficult. Therefore, you should only immerse the duck in boiling water to a certain extent, which will make the feather plucking much easier.
Step 4: You proceed to pluck the duck feathers. You should use your hands to press on the duck’s feathers, causing the down to fall off so that you don’t have to spend time sitting and plucking the feathers.
Step 5: After cleaning the duck feathers, you should take white salt and crushed ginger, gently rub them on the duck’s skin, then rinse with clean water several times to reduce the odor.
