1. Helicobacter pylori (H.P) Bacteria Causes Ulcers and Stomach Cancer

Experts unanimously agree that “where there is HP, there is stomach cancer.” This is the only bacteria that survives in the acidic environment of the stomach, causing ulcers and damage to the mucous membrane.

Individuals infected with HP bacteria need to regularly monitor their health, check for HP infection, and undergo endoscopic examinations to detect any abnormalities in the digestive system.

2. Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) Cause Liver Cancer

Liver cancer has the highest incidence rate among all types of cancer in Vietnam. The leading cause of liver cancer is viral hepatitis, specifically Hepatitis B (HBV) and Hepatitis C (HCV) infections.

3. Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Causes Cervical Cancer

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a large group of related viruses. Each virus type within the group is assigned a numerical type. HPV is the primary cause of several types of cancer, most commonly cervical cancer in women.

4. Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) Causes Throat Cancer

Multiple studies have shown a clear link between Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) and throat cancer. High levels of EBV antibodies are found in patients with non- differentiated tissue throat cancer. In principle, EBV can be transmitted through saliva when kissing, sharing food and drinks, and even through oral sex. Diseases caused by EBV are known as “the kissing diseases.”

5. Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) – HIV Infection

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) causes immune system suppression in individuals, leading to increased risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, and Kaposi sarcoma. HIV infection also stimulates the overproduction and mutation of immune cells (B cells), increasing the risk of B-cell cancers. Preventive measures for HIV include practicing safe sexual activities.
