1. Look at the color

When choosing dragon fruit, if the leaves turn yellow or even light brown, it’s best not to buy them.

Pay close attention to the skin, the smoother the skin, the fresher it is, and the tastier the flesh. Fresh dragon fruit should have smooth skin. If it is a wrinkled variety, it should not be chosen as it will not be fresh. If stored for too long, it will become damp. When buying dragon fruit, it’s best to look at the skin of the fruit.

2. Look at the shape

Try to choose “plump” fruits, meaning they are round and full. Avoid choosing fruits that are small or not plump. The plumper the fruit, the riper it is, and the more water and sugar it contains, making it sweet and delicious. In general, white-fleshed dragon fruit is relatively large and has an elliptical shape, while red-fleshed dragon fruit is relatively smaller and rounder.

3. Look at the scales

Look at the thickness of the scales. We cannot judge the thickness of the dragon fruit skin, but when choosing dragon fruit, touch the scales of the fruit. If the scales are thin to the touch, the skin of the dragon fruit is thinner.

4. Weigh and check the stem

When choosing dragon fruit, make sure the stem is not rotten. So when choosing, check if the stem has turned black. If it has turned black, it is not recommended to buy it. Choose the largest and heaviest fruit among several fruits of similar size. This type of dragon fruit contains a lot of water and juicy flesh!

It is best not to store dragon fruit in the refrigerator. Dragon fruit is a tropical fruit, and if stored in the refrigerator, the skin will shrivel and develop dark spots, affecting the taste and losing some nutrients. It is best to store dragon fruit in a cool, well-ventilated place. In general, dragon fruit can be stored for up to half a month to a month under good storage conditions.
