Don’t wash too few or too many clothes
If you wash too many clothes in one load, the machine may make loud noises and the spinning motion of the drum may stop. In some cases, clothes may fall out of the drum and the owner may only find them when the repairman removes the drum from the machine.
On the other hand, if you wash too few clothes, it can be more difficult to get them clean.
Choose the appropriate water setting
Some modern washing machines have a hot water wash setting. However, when rinsing the fabric, cold water is sufficient, which helps save energy. Also, when not in use, be sure to completely disconnect the power source from the machine.
If you are buying a new washing machine, consider choosing one that meets Energy Star standards, which will help save 50% more water compared to a regular washing machine.
Select the appropriate water level
Current washing machines usually have 3 water levels corresponding to different wash cycles. Depending on the amount of clothes you are washing, choose the appropriate water level. For example, if you have a small amount of clothes, choose a low water level. This not only saves water but also speeds up the washing process and saves electricity.
Choose the appropriate detergent
Choosing the right detergent for your washing machine not only provides better cleaning than regular detergents but also helps protect the machine. Detergents specifically designed for washing machines produce less foam, so they don’t leave much residue on clothes.
In addition, you should only use enough detergent corresponding to the amount of clothes you need to wash. Doing so helps increase the efficiency of washing, and saves electricity and water. Dirty clothes should be pre-soaked before putting them in the washing machine, as using too much detergent will not be effective.
If you use fabric softener, you should also use the appropriate amount to save more effectively.
Select the appropriate spin setting
Usually, the spin setting is included with the washing program. However, if you want the clothes to dry quickly, choose the appropriate spin setting. When washing thick clothes or bedding, choose the extra dry spin mode to save time.
Properly clean the washing machine
If the washing machine drum is not cleaned, it can harbor bacteria, mold, detergent residue, fabric lint, etc. Even after washing, the clothes may still have dirt residues, causing you to wash them multiple times and wasting electricity and water. Therefore, you need to clean the washing machine drum regularly.
