When to squeeze pimples
Squeezing pimples at the wrong time only makes them bigger and leaves scars. The way to tell if a pimple is ready is that the pimple core is dry and hard, yellowish-brown in color and raised on the skin surface. It is possible to extract the pimple with a gentle touch.
Which types of pimples can be squeezed at home?
You should only squeeze blackheads and whiteheads caused by dead skin cells and trapped sebum in the pores. These two types of pimples are close to the skin surface and have a shallow depth, making them easy to remove.
As for inflammatory pimples, pus-filled pimples, and cystic acne, they should not be squeezed. These types of pimples often penetrate deep into the skin cells, are painful, and difficult to squeeze.
How to squeeze pimples at home to minimize scars
Remember to wash your hands before touching your face.
First, you need to check the maturity of the pimple by gently pressing it with your finger. If the pimple head is dry and hard, it can be squeezed.
Then, prepare tools to squeeze pimples such as using cotton swabs, needles, or specialized tools.
Cleanse the face with gentle facial cleansers that have deep cleansing abilities. Steam your face to help open up the pores, facilitate the process of squeezing pimples, and reduce pain.
Just steaming with water vapor for about 2 – 5 minutes is enough.
When squeezing pimples, use tools to gently push the pimple core out of the skin.
Cleanse the skin
Remember that after squeezing pimples, you need to combine it with good skincare and hygiene. Avoid applying makeup immediately after squeezing as this will reintroduce bacteria to the skin, prolonging the healing process of the pimples.
The pimples after squeezing will create many open wounds, which are easily damaged and infected. Therefore, be careful not to apply any products or active ingredients to the skin without the guidance of a doctor.
Use specialized products
After squeezing pimples, you should only use specialized products prescribed by a doctor. Incorrect use of specialized products can damage the skin. Especially, avoid using products that have exfoliating or peeling effects.
Use cotton swabs to clean up any blood streaks and yellowish fluid on the skin. Then, use physiological saline to wash the face. Remember to keep your hands clean to limit dust, dirt, and bacteria from entering and damaging the newly squeezed pimples. Remember to proceed gently.
