Activated Charcoal
Activated charcoal, also known as activated carbon, is a highly porous form of carbon created by burning carbon-rich materials such as wood, coal, coconut shells, or bamboo at high temperatures in an oxygen-deprived environment.
Activated charcoal possesses adsorbent properties, drawing out toxins and impurities, keeping your skin clean and clear. It is an excellent ingredient for the skin as it gently exfoliates and, when combined with the peeling mechanism, becomes even more effective.
Apart from its beauty benefits, activated charcoal also accelerates wound healing by absorbing toxins from the wound, reducing swelling and pain. Hence, wound healing products often contain activated charcoal as an ingredient.
Gelatin
Gelatin is a fantastic ingredient in this all-natural formula. It not only helps remove dead skin cells but also effectively eliminates peach fuzz, blackheads, and whiteheads, leaving your skin smooth and supple.
Rose Water
Rose water is always preferable to plain water in DIY beauty recipes. It nourishes and hydrates your skin.
Peppermint Essential Oil
Peppermint oil has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that combat acne, cysts, whiteheads, and blackheads. It keeps your skin clear and detoxified.
What You’ll Need:
2 teaspoons gelatin
1 teaspoon activated charcoal powder
Enough rose water
2-3 drops peppermint essential oil
Instructions:
– Mix the gelatin and activated charcoal powder together.
– Add enough rose water and microwave the mixture for a few seconds. Adjust the amount of rose water to achieve a thin, sticky consistency. Ensure the gelatin is fully dissolved.
– Add a few drops of peppermint essential oil and mix well. Apply a thin, even layer to your face, avoiding the hairline, brows, and eyelashes. Let the mask dry completely, then peel it off gently in an upward direction. Follow up with a moisturizer or facial oil. You can use this mask once a week.
If you have sensitive skin, peel-off masks may cause redness and mild irritation. If symptoms persist, discontinue use. Always patch test before use.
