Ginger is a herb packed with nutrients, antioxidants, vitamins (B3, B6, and C), and minerals (iron, zinc, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium) that are beneficial for hair health. This familiar spice in Vietnamese cuisine stimulates blood circulation in the scalp, enhancing nutrient delivery to the hair follicles and promoting hair growth. Additionally, ginger’s anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal properties help cleanse the scalp, preventing dandruff, folliculitis, and other causes of hair loss. Consistent ginger hair masks will result in fuller, bouncier hair with strengthened hair follicles.

For maximum nutrient extraction, grate or finely chop ginger and infuse it in hot water.

Method:

Juice fresh ginger with a little warm water to extract the juice. Alternatively, grate or crush the ginger, add warm water, and then strain the mixture to obtain the ginger juice. Apply the juice to your scalp and gently massage it into your scalp and hair roots. Leave it on for about 30 minutes and then rinse it off as usual. Avoid using pure ginger juice as it may irritate the scalp. Do not apply it to the ends of your hair and avoid leaving it on for too long to prevent hair dryness. You can also add diluted ginger juice to your shampoo and gently massage it into your scalp while cleansing your hair.

2. Flaxseeds

Flaxseeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which reduce inflammation and maintain the natural moisture of the scalp and hair. They also contain vitamin B, which strengthens hair follicles and promotes faster hair growth. The abundant vitamin E in flaxseeds protects the scalp from free radical damage, resulting in strong, shiny hair with reduced breakage.

Apply the flaxseed soak to your entire hair length to enhance softness and shine.

Method:

Rinse flaxseeds with water and soak them in boiling water for about 30 minutes to release their nutrients. Strain the liquid and apply it to your scalp and hair. Gently massage it in and leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing it off.

3. Luffa

The mucilage in luffa acts as a natural hair moisturizer, improving dry and frizzy hair by adding softness and smoothness. Luffa is rich in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as calcium and potassium, which help repair damaged hair and strengthen hair follicles, reducing hair fall.

Former supermodel Huynh Thanh Tuyen swears by luffa hair masks, stating that it’s a quick, easy, and ‘wonderfully effective’ treatment.

Clean and cut luffa into small pieces. You can either boil the pieces and then blend them or blend and then boil them. Strain the mixture and apply the liquid to your scalp and hair. Leave it on for about 30 minutes and then rinse it off as usual.
