Mold can appear in damp environments. When the walls and ceiling of a house are damp, mold will quickly appear. At first, they are just tiny spots. If not dealt with early, the mold stains will become darker and spread.

Black mold is a common type that easily grows in damp environments. Removing mold is extremely important as it affects human health. Black mold can cause conditions such as asthma, allergies, and infections. Removing mold from the house is a way to protect yourself and your family.

Usually, using mold remover can help you get rid of mold stains. However, the remover will have an unpleasant smell and is not really safe for health. Mold remover can cause some health issues if accidentally inhaled, especially for people with asthma or young children.

Instead of using mold remover, you can choose a safer solution that can clean even better.

Using citric acid

All you need to do is prepare citric acid. This is an organic acid, found in many citrus fruits. It is used as a natural preservative and to add tangy flavor to some packaged and canned foods. You can easily buy this product on the market. Besides the name citric acid, some people may call this product lemon acid, lemon powder, sour powder…

Mix 40 grams of citric acid with 60 grams of water, spray evenly on all moldy areas and leave it like that. You can leave it overnight. Then, use a brush to scrub the mold stains away. Citric acid will kill the mold spores, even bleach can’t do this. When removing mold from the house, remember to wear rubber gloves and a mask.

Using white vinegar

Another safe and effective way to remove mold is to use white vinegar. White vinegar is a material that every home has. They are very cheap and safe for human health. White vinegar can kill and prevent mold from coming back.

You can dilute vinegar with water, spray directly on the moldy areas, leave it like that for a few hours for the vinegar to kill all the mold, and then use a scrub brush to remove all the mold stains.

Note that the longer the mold stains appear, the harder it is to clean. When left for a long time, mold will penetrate deep inside, and scrubbing the surface will not be very effective. If your house walls have large mold patches, the paint is peeling, the most effective way is still to scrape off the old paint and repaint it.
