What is humidity season?
Humidity season, or damp weather, is a weather phenomenon that usually occurs in late spring (February – April) in the northern part of our country. This phenomenon occurs when the humidity in the air increases up to 90%, leading to the condensation and deposition of water vapor on the surface of objects.
Some easily recognizable signs are: damp floors, walls, and foggy mirrors, clothes taking a long time to dry, electronic devices prone to damage, fast food susceptible to mold, damp and smelly bedding,…

Appropriate air-conditioning modes for humid weather
DRY mode
The reason why users feel cooler air is because the humidity in the room is reduced instead of air cooling as in the Cool mode. For example, when set to Dry mode at a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and the humidity in the room is about 90%, the air conditioner will dry the air until the temperature drops to around 25 degrees Celsius and stops. When the humidity increases and the temperature rises again, the machine will continue to operate to maintain low humidity.
Since the compressor only works to condense moisture in the dry mode, the air conditioner is less noisy and consumes less electricity compared to the Cool mode. However, on extremely hot or low-humidity days, the Dry mode does not provide significant cooling effects. Abusing this mode on hot sunny dry days can even harm human health, such as respiratory diseases, dry skin, cracked hands…

To make sure whether to use Dry mode or not, users should have a humidity monitor in the room. If the humidity is above 70%, this mode should be used, in case of below 60%, the air conditioner should be turned on in normal cooling mode (Cool) combined with the use of a humidifier or placing a small bowl of water in the room.
In Vietnam, users can use the Dry mode during the humidity season in the northern region (February, March every year) or during the rainy season in both regions. In early winter in the northern region, on some hot and humid days, this mode can also be used to make the air more comfortable.
COOL mode
The COOL mode on the air conditioner has the function of reducing the temperature in the room. When this mode is activated, the air conditioner will use the condenser to create a stream of cool air to the desired temperature and humidity.
This function is most suitable for use on hot summer days with dry weather and humidity below 70%. However, the COOL mode consumes a lot of electricity, so when the room has reached the desired temperature, you should switch to another mode to save electricity!
You can use the air conditioner in COOL mode at the same time as a dehumidifier to circulate cool air streams evenly, bringing a comfortable and pleasant feeling.
How to Choose the Best Air Conditioning Setting for a Humid and Damp Home
As the cooler temperatures of winter and spring begin to set in across the Northeast, families are confronted with an additional worry – how can they protect their homes from mold and dampness? While a dehumidifier is an effective measure, are there other air conditioning or cooling methods which can be used to ensure the air remains free of moisture and fungi?
