The flower’s name is derived from its delicate yet resilient appearance, with the ability to withstand drought and blooming year-round. Additionally, the petals of this ornamental plant resemble soft, delicate sheets of paper.

According to various studies, the paper flower originated from Brazil in South America and later spread to other countries, particularly those with tropical climates (where the plant adapts easily), leading to the development of different varieties (Thai paper flowers, American paper flowers, etc.)

Since Vietnam also falls within the tropical climate region, it is easy to cultivate the paper flower, and it is grown in many places nationwide as an ornamental plant, providing shade (used as trellises for climbing plants),…

Using vinegar

Vinegar is not only a type of seasoning but also has many other uses in daily life. You can use vinegar to water your plants, especially paper flowers.

Vinegar helps increase the acidity of the soil, providing a certain amount of iron to help the flowers bloom evenly and remain fresh.

Vinegar also helps preserve the freshness of the flowers. Typically, when arranging flowers, you can mix vinegar and sugar into water and then use this solution to arrange the flowers. The flowers will stay fresh and bloom more beautifully than when using plain water.

To use vinegar for watering paper flowers, you need to dilute 150ml of vinegar with 4 liters of clean water. You can water the plants twice a week with this solution.

Watering beer for paper flowers

You can use beer to water your plants, helping them grow well, produce more flowers, and maintain color durability. Beer contains sugar and various compounds that provide a certain amount of nutrients to the plants. You can dilute the beer with water and use it to water the paper flowers.

The beer will seep into the soil and provide the necessary nutrients for the plants. This is a clean fertilizer for indoor plants.

The sugar and yeast in beer also help nourish beneficial bacteria in the soil, making the soil richer and better nourishing the paper flowers. You can use beer to water other types of plants such as orchids, roses, etc. Note that you should only water the beer around the plant’s root area and avoid spraying it directly onto the leaves.

Water the plants with beer once every 20 days. When watering, dilute the beer with clean water at a ratio of 1:30.

Watering paper flowers

Water the plant’s stems carefully, using just enough water to moisten the soil surface without soaking it. Avoid touching the plant’s stems after watering. You need to water it properly to stimulate new, easy growth.

Remember not to overwater, as excessively wet soil can hinder root development and lead to issues such as rotting or mold growth.

Furthermore, to encourage paper flowers to develop roots quickly, bloom in clusters year-round, you need to follow this secret: When cutting stem cuttings, use a sharp knife or saw to ensure a clean cut without crushing or peeling the stem. Cuttings that are intact like this have a better chance of surviving, sprouting shoots, and rooting quickly. On the other hand, crushed stem cuttings have very little chance of surviving, sometimes giving pathogenic bacteria a chance to invade and cause rot, losing the ability to sprout.

When cutting stem cuttings, it is important to align the tip and base properly so that they are not reversed when planting. In other words, when placing the stem cutting in the soil, the base should be buried in the soil, while the tip points upwards. Properly aligning the stem like this helps facilitate the process of rooting cuttings more quickly and correctly.
