Removing grease from plastic containers can be challenging, especially in cold weather. No matter how much dishwashing liquid you use or how hard you scrub, you may still feel that greasy residue left behind.

To completely remove grease from plastic containers, you can try the following tips.

Method 1: Warm Water and Paper Towels

First, pour some warm water into the container, add 2-3 paper towels, and a little dishwashing liquid. Close the container tightly and shake it vigorously for a few seconds. The warm water and dishwashing liquid will help loosen and trap the grease onto the paper towels. After that, rinse the container thoroughly.

There are several other methods you can also try to remove grease from plastic containers.

Method 2: Vinegar

Vinegar contains acetic acid, which is effective in removing grease from utensils. You can dampen a paper towel with vinegar and use it to wipe the entire inside and outside of the container. Pay extra attention to areas with heavy grease buildup. For better results, you can pour vinegar into the container, spread it evenly, and let it sit for about 3 minutes. Then, rinse the container with dishwashing liquid as usual.

Method 3: Baking Soda

Baking soda is great for removing stains and greasy residue.

Pour some warm water into the container, add baking soda, and shake it well. Let the container soak in the baking soda water for about a day, then rinse it with dishwashing liquid as usual.

Method 4: Hot Saltwater

This is a simple and effective method to clean grease stains anytime without complicated ingredients.

Prepare 1 liter of hot water and dissolve 3 teaspoons of salt in it. Place the plastic container in this saltwater solution for about 10 minutes. After that, wash the container with dishwashing liquid as usual.

Note: Do not use boiling water as it may deform the container. Use moderately hot water to enhance grease removal. Check the material of the container to ensure it can withstand heat. For plastic containers that cannot tolerate heat, use a different cleaning method.

Method 5: Lemon

Lemons contain acid that can effectively clean and remove grease stains.

Simply cut a lemon in half and rub it on the entire inside of the container, especially on areas with heavy grease. Leave it for 1-2 hours. After the time is up, rinse the container with dishwashing liquid and warm water.

You can also slice the lemon thinly, put it in a basin of warm water, and soak the plastic container in it for a few hours. Then, wash the container with dishwashing liquid and clean water.
