Puffer jackets are prone to small black mold spots. If this happens, it would be a waste to throw away the jacket. You can easily clean these stains using common household ingredients that guarantee effectiveness and cost savings.
Use fresh ginger
Ginger is a familiar spice in every kitchen. Besides being used as a cooking spice, you can use fresh ginger to remove mold stains from clothes. The process is very simple. Take grated fresh ginger and apply it on the stain, leaving it for about 15 minutes. Then, add a little water to the stained area and lightly rub. Finally, wash the jacket with soap as usual.
Vinegar
Vinegar is also a readily available ingredient in the kitchen that works very well in removing stubborn stains on clothes. Mix vinegar with water in a ratio of 1:2 and bring it to a boil. Let the water cool down until warm, then soak the clothes for about 30 minutes.
Then, wash the clothes with soap as usual and rinse with clean water.
You can also mix vinegar, detergent, and warm water to create a cleaning solution for the jacket. Apply this mixture on the stains, lightly scrub, and soak for about 15-30 minutes. Then, wash the clothes again with clean water and dry them in the sunlight.
Use toothpaste
Toothpaste not only helps clean teeth and prevent cavities but also has the ability to remove stains and mold spots on clothes.
You can apply a small amount of toothpaste on the stained area of the jacket and leave it for 30 minutes for the cleaning agents in the toothpaste to work, softening the stain. Then, use a soft brush to gently remove the mold spots. Wash the jacket with soap as usual and dry it in a well-ventilated area.
Use lemon juice
Lemon juice is acidic and very effective in cleaning mold stains on puffer jackets. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze out the juice. Apply this juice to the affected area and let it sit for a few hours. Then, wash the clothes with soap and clean water as usual.
Use baking soda
Baking soda is an inexpensive ingredient that works great for cleaning. For jackets with mold, you can use baking soda to clean them. Put about 1 cup of baking soda and laundry detergent into the washing machine along with the jacket, then start the machine to work as usual.
If hand washing, you need to soak the jacket in water mixed with detergent and baking soda for about 30 minutes. Then, scrub the mold spots and rinse multiple times with clean water.
