Don’t throw away plastic bottles after drinking mineral water or soda. Keep these plastic bottles for reuse. They can help you solve many problems in your family.
You can use these plastic bottles as watering cans for plants when you are away from home. The process is very simple, you can refer to some options below.
First option:
Prepare a plastic bottle and a pair of chopsticks. Drill two small holes in the bottle cap so that the size of the hole is not larger than the chopsticks, just enough to insert a section of both ends of the chopsticks through the holes.
Pour water into the bottle and twist the cap back on. Insert the ends of the chopsticks into the plant pot. Water will slowly flow through the gap between the chopsticks. The plant will be continuously replenished with water and you don’t need to water it.
Second option:
Prepare an empty plastic bottle, a pair of chopsticks, and a piece of string. Drill a small hole in the plastic bottle cap, the hole should not be too large, just enough to thread the string through.
Securely tie the two chopsticks to both sides of the bottle with tape. Fill the bottle with water and screw the cap back on (the cap with the threaded string).
Now you just need to insert the two ends of the chopsticks into the plant pot. Water from the plastic bottle will slowly flow through the small hole in the cap with the threaded string. This way, you have created a self-watering system for plants, which can be applied when you are away for a few days.
Turn plastic bottles into self-watering plant pots
Cut off 1/3 of the plastic bottle (the section with the bottle cap). With the remaining part of the bottle, cut an 8cm section so that when you place the bottle cap upside down onto the bottom of the bottle, the cap is close to touching the bottom.
Drill a small hole in the bottle cap and thread a long piece of fabric string through this hole. Screw the cap onto the bottle and place it on top of the bottom part of the bottle. Fill with soil. Then, plant a mini plant of your choice in it. Water the soil to keep it moist.
Pour water into the bottom part of the bottle so that it is submerged about 6-7 cm and the water can reach about 1/3 of the top of the bottle.
In addition, you can use plastic bottles for many different purposes, such as using clean plastic bottles to store rice. This way, mold and dust cannot get into the rice.
