For years, this island has attracted numerous single women seeking love and romance. Visitors often bring red or pink bras, colors symbolizing good fortune in relationships.

They write their names and wishes on these intimate garments, then hang them on trees or place them on altars.

According to SCMP, the origin of this bra-offering ritual on Ko Nom Sao island stems from a tragic legend about Yomdoy, a beautiful young woman who was thrown into the sea by her father when she refused an arranged marriage.

Legend has it that Yomdoy’s two breasts transformed into sacred hills. One is located on Ko Nom Sao island, and the other is in Chanthaburi Province, eastern Thailand.

Nearly 80 years ago, a fisherman seeking shelter from a storm claimed to have seen a mysterious light emanating from the island, leading many to believe it was the spirit of the goddess Yomdoy.

Mr. Sumate Charoensuk, representing the Social Responsibility Committee of the Sam Roi Yot Subdistrict, stated that the local community has long held a deep belief in the miracles attributed to the goddess who watches over Ko Nom Sao island.

“The bras offered as gifts will be collected, sorted, and donated to underprivileged women in the area,” affirmed Mr. Sumate, while also encouraging more domestic and international visitors to experience the unique attractions of Ko Nom Sao.

Beyond its spiritual significance, Ko Nom Sao also entices tourists with its pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and some of the region’s most stunning coral reefs.

Travel agencies have combined island tours with scuba diving and fishing activities to offer diverse experiences to their guests.
