Scenic bend on the road to Y Ty in Lao Cai Province

A bend on the road from Lao Cai city to Y Ty commune (Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province) has gone viral for its surreal and picturesque scenery.

Hoang Van Huy, a resident of Hanoi who currently works in tourism in Cao Bang and Ha Giang, captured these stunning images of the impressive bend during his trip to Y Ty on August 19th.

As he navigated through this area, the enchanting natural landscape captivated him, and he utilized a flycam to capture breathtaking aerial shots.

“The air here is fresh and cool, and the scenery is pristine and captivating. When I visited, the rice terraces on both sides of the road had turned golden and emitted a pleasant fragrance,” the young man recounted.

According to Huy, there is a milestone near the bend that marks the location 7 kilometers away from Y Ty. Travelers who pass by this route can stop by and take photographs at some of the beautiful rice terraces or check out the “sunset tree” not too far from there.

“I asked the local people, and they shared that around the end of August, the rice here will ripen evenly. So, if you visit at this time, you can admire the road and the golden season at their most beautiful,” Huy suggested.

Although it was his first time visiting this bend, the young man was overwhelmed by its breathtaking surroundings, which exude a unique beauty. He remarked that this place deserves to be a new attraction for travel enthusiasts, offering a distinct autumn experience in the Northwest, beyond the well-known destinations of Nam Cang (Sa Pa) and Muong Hum (Bat Xat) in Lao Cai.

Impressive bend on the road to Y Ty

During the upcoming September 2nd holiday, visitors can explore Y Ty, experience the impressive bend, and admire the rice terraces adorned in golden hues.

To reach this bend on DT 156, travelers departing from Sa Pa town can follow the route through Ban Xeo, Muong Hum, and A Lu commune. Alternatively, you can take the route from Lao Cai city to Kim Thanh, Trinh Tuong, and Lung Po, eventually reaching A Lu commune. Both routes have a total distance of approximately 90 kilometers.

Scenic road to Y Ty during the rice ripening season

Around August and September, many rice terraces in Bat Xat district enter the ripening season, with the rice fields turning a vibrant golden color, attracting numerous visitors. In addition to Y Ty being a famous “cloud-hunting” spot, travelers can explore the picturesque rice terraces and enjoy the fresh and pleasant atmosphere.

However, this is also the time when mountain areas experience floods and landslides, so visitors should closely monitor weather forecasts to ensure a safe and convenient journey to their chosen tourist destinations.

Furthermore, due to the high volume of tourists visiting Lao Cai and the Northwest during the rice ripening season, especially on weekends, it is advisable to make advance reservations at accommodations and consider hiring local guides for a smoother experience.
