Lăng Cô – Cảnh Dương and Other Destinations: Unveiling Vietnam’s Future Tourism Hotspots
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has recently approved Decision 509/QÐ-TTg on the master plan for tourism development for the period of 2021 – 2030, with a vision towards 2045. This plan identifies Lăng Cô – Cảnh Dương (Phu Loc district, Thua Thien-Hue province), Măng Đen (Kon Tum), and the Cao Nguyen Dong Van Global Geopark (Ha Giang) as potential sites for developing National Tourism Areas in the 2021-2030 period. This area boasts a wealth of coastal resources, including one of Vietnam’s most beautiful beaches. It also enjoys convenient connections to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the ancient capital of Hue, the ancient town of Hoi An, and the My Son Sanctuary. Image: N.V.
According to the Thua Thien-Hue Department of Tourism, to effectively harness these potentials and advantages and develop Lăng Cô – Cảnh Dương into a National Tourism Area, it is essential to establish a comprehensive development plan. This plan will provide long-term and sustainable tourism development orientations for the area. Image: N.V.
As per the master plan, the Lăng Cô – Cảnh Dương National Tourism Area is located within the Chan May – Lăng Cô Economic Zone, specifically in Lang Co town and Loc Vinh commune, Phu Loc district, Thua Thien-Hue province. It covers an area of approximately 9,490 hectares, with a core tourism development area of 1,350 hectares. Image: N.V.
By 2025, the Lăng Cô – Cảnh Dương Tourism Area aims to become a leading destination in Thua Thien-Hue province and the Central region. It will feature a synchronized and modern technical infrastructure, an attractive investment environment, and a range of tourism development projects. It will meet the criteria and be recognized as a National Tourism Area. By 2030, the area aspires to become an internationally renowned destination. Image: N.V.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Director of Thua Thien-Hue Department of Tourism, stated that the identification of potential sites for National Tourism Area development provides a legal basis and facilitates the attraction of investors for tourism development projects.
