According to the regulations of the 2019 Labor Law, employees and civil servants are entitled to holidays according to the following schedule.

12024 Gregorian New Year Holiday

According to the provisions mentioned in point a paragraph 1 of Article 112 of the 2019 Labor Law, employees are entitled to New Year’s Day off and receive full pay for 1 day (January 1st of the Gregorian calendar).

In 2024, the Gregorian New Year falls on Monday (January 1, 2024), so the 2024 Western holiday schedule will be as follows:

  • Employees who have a weekly day off on Saturday and Sunday will have 3 consecutive days off (December 30, 2023 – January 1, 2024).
  • Employees who have a weekly day off on Sunday will have 2 consecutive days off for the Western New Year (December 31, 2023 – January 1, 2024).

2024 Gregorian New Year Holiday Calendar

22024 Lunar New Year Holiday

On November 3, 2023, the Government Office issued Document 8662/VPCP-KGVX in 2023 on Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2024.

Accordingly, the Government agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs in Document 4594/LDTBXH-ATLD in 2023 regarding the Lunar New Year holiday from February 8th, 2024 to February 14th, 2024. Specifically:

Civil servants and public employees will officially have a Lunar New Year holiday from February 8th, 2024 (the 29th day of the 12th lunar month in the Year of the Tiger) to February 14th, 2024 (the 5th day of the 1st lunar month in the Year of the Rat).

Above is the Lunar New Year holiday schedule for civil servants and public employees. Depending on the regulations and production orientation, companies and enterprises can determine suitable holiday periods.

2024 Lunar New Year Holiday Calendar

32024 April 30th and May 1st Holiday

The April 30th and May 1st, 2024 holidays for employees will be as follows:

  • April 30th: 1 day off (April 30th of the Gregorian calendar).
  • May 1st: 1 day off (May 1st of the Gregorian calendar).

April 30th, 2024 falls on Tuesday, and May 1st, 2024 falls on Wednesday. Therefore, civil servants, public employees, and employees will have 2 consecutive holidays.

42024 National Day Holiday on September 2nd

According to point d paragraph 1 of Article 112 of the 2019 Labor Law, employees are entitled to a 2-day National Day holiday (September 2nd of the Gregorian calendar and 1 day before or after).

  • For employees, the employer will decide for them to have a 2-day holiday (September 2nd of the Gregorian calendar and 1 day before or after).

2024 National Day Holiday Calendar on September 2nd

52024 Hung Kings Commemoration Day

According to point e paragraph 1 of Article 112 of the 2019 Labor Law, employees are entitled to 1 day off on the occasion of the Hung Kings Commemoration Day (the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month). The date of March 10, 2024 Lunar calendar falls on Thursday. Therefore, on the occasion of Hung Kings Commemoration Day in 2024, employees will have a day off.
