Method 1: Opening a stuck bottle cap using duct tape
Use duct tape to wrap around approximately three-quarters of the bottle cap. Attach the remaining part of the tape to the top of the cap, leaving a bit of tape excess.
Hold the bottle tightly with one hand, and with the other hand, hold the tape and twist gently.
Method 3: Opening a stuck bottle cap using hot water
Pour hot water (about 50 degrees Celsius) to submerge the bottle cap when it is upside down.
Place the bottle upside down in a bowl of hot water for 1-2 minutes. Note that only the cap should be submerged, and the remaining part should not to prevent water from flowing into the food.
Take out the bottle, set it upright, and open the cap as usual.
Method 4: Opening a stuck bottle cap using a hairdryer
Usually, small-sized oil/balm bottles are difficult to open, so it is best to use a hairdryer:
Turn on the hairdryer to the hot setting. Heat the cap evenly by rotating it for 3-5 minutes. Open the bottle when it is still slightly warm.
You can also replace the hairdryer with a lighter using the same method as the effectiveness is just as good!
Method 5: Opening a stuck bottle cap using an elastic band and rubber gloves
Use an elastic band to tie around the rim of the bottle cap for 2-3 loops. Put on the rubber gloves and gently twist the cap open as usual.
The friction between the two materials will help you open the cap more easily.
Method 6: Opening a stuck bottle cap by tapping the cap
Use a wooden spoon to tap evenly around the mouth of the bottle/jar for 5-7 minutes. The purpose is to create pressure near the cap and break the vacuum seal.
Wait for the “pop” sound inside the bottle/jar (this means the vacuum seal has been broken). Gently twist the cap open as usual.
Method 7: Opening a stuck bottle cap by tapping the bottom of the bottle/jar
Hold the bottle tightly in your non-dominant hand. Tilt the bottle at a 45-degree angle with the bottom facing up.
Use the palm of your hand to slap the middle of the bottle’s bottom. Just slap with enough strength to break the vacuum seal on the top of the bottle/jar, but not too hard to avoid pain or breaking the bottle.
When you hear the “pop” sound, gently open the cap as usual.
