Looking at the color of fruit
When buying apples, many people believe that the redder the apple, the riper and of course, it will have a sweeter and more delicious taste. But it’s not entirely true. Delicious apples have a red and slightly yellow color, with the side exposed to sunlight being redder.
Some types of apples that are slightly white should not be bought because they usually develop molds in the crevices of the leaves. If they are not exposed to sunlight for a long time, they will taste very sour.
You should note that normal apples will not turn completely red. It is very likely that artificially ripened apples, rather than naturally ripe ones.
Examining the surface of the apple
When choosing apples, you can use your fingers to touch and feel if the surface of the apple is smooth or not. If the surface of the apple feels very smooth, it tends to have a more sour taste. If the surface of the apple feels slightly rough, it will have a sweeter taste.
Many people think that apples with irregular shapes are not tasty, but in reality, it’s the opposite.
Looking at the core of the apple
At the bottom of the apple, there is a core. If you observe a few apples, you will find that some apples have a large and deep core, while others have a small and shallow core.
For these two types of apples, we should choose the ones with a large and deep core. These apples are riper and have a more natural sweetness. On the contrary, apples with a small and shallow core will be less tasty.
Smelling the fragrance
Ripe and delicious apples usually have a very fragrant smell. In contrast, unripe apples will have a less fragrant smell and when eaten, they will taste sour and slightly bitter.
Use your hands to feel and squeeze
Delicious and juicy apples will feel round, firm, and heavy when held. Or you can try pressing your finger on the apple, if it makes a clear and loud sound, that means it is crisp and delicious.
