Rice fish are not only natural and intact, but also have delicious meat and contain many nutrients, as illustrated in Figure 1. According to the US Department of Agriculture, rice fish is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, protein, vitamins, and minerals. More importantly, they provide beneficial fats and cholesterol for heart health.
In July 2019, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) listed rice fish as one of the best fish to consume.
The reason rice fish is considered a “clean” fish is because of their short lifespan, which leads to lower accumulation of toxins compared to other fish species.
Flying fish
If you see these 5 types of fish below when you go to the market, buy them right away. They are natural, delicious, and rich in nutrients, as shown in the second figure. Flying fish have silver-white bodies, tender and abundant meat, and many small bones. Although some people dislike the bones, this type of fish is richer in calcium than milk.
Every 85 grams of flying fish contains 325mg of calcium, compared to 276mg of calcium in 85 grams of milk. Just by consuming 10 grams of flying fish, you ensure an adequate supply of essential fats for your body every day. Flying fish are also rich in vitamin D and DHA, which help strengthen the immune system and are beneficial for pregnant women.
Sand fish
Sand fish usually live in brackish water environments in coastal areas and estuaries. This is a familiar fish species for Vietnamese people. According to traditional medicine, sand fish has digestive support, improves intestinal function, and helps treat chronic colitis.
Especially for the elderly, weak people, or those who have just recovered from illness, adding this type of fish to their diet can help improve health. Sand fish reproduce quickly and have a short growth cycle, so they are often less affected by environmental toxins. Because of their reasonable price, many housewives prefer this type of fish for regular consumption.

In addition, with a much lower price than salmon or tuna, snapper fish is often a more economical choice, and few people think of farming them.
