Tennis balls are not just used on tennis courts and in children’s toys, but they can also be used for practical and useful purposes.

One practical use is to wrap a piece of aluminum foil around a tennis ball and then put it in the dryer with damp clothes. This method softens and smoothens the fabric, as well as preventing static electricity. It is an alternative to using regular dryer sheets which can leave a scent and be expensive.

This happens because the aluminum foil, while rolling in the dryer, acts as a metal element that attracts the electric charge created by clothing rubbing against each other during the drying process. This method does not harm the washing machine. A tennis ball prepared in this way can be effective for up to 6 months.

Tennis balls can also be used to prevent sharp marks on clothes when hung. By placing the tennis ball on a hanger, it creates a soft round head that won’t ruin the shape of the garments.

Tennis balls can also be used to remove stains. Rubbing a new tennis ball on scratches on the floor acts as a stain remover. Alternatively, you can cut a tennis ball and attach it to a broom handle for easier rubbing.
