Mr. Melvyn and Mrs. Doris have lived happily together for several decades. But as old age approached, Mr. Melvyn was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Memory loss prevented him from living a normal life or being able to walk alone.

Because of this, when Mr. Melvyn disappeared from home in 2014, Mrs. Doris was extremely panicked. She immediately called the police. Immediately, two police officers, Brian Grigsby and Troy Dillard, quickly got involved…
Shortly after, Brian and Troy found Mr. Melvyn wandering about 2 miles away from home. However, Mr. Melvyn refused to go home with them, insisting that he needed to fulfill something special!
“He will not come home until he buys flowers. That’s what he wants. He wants to buy flowers for his wife, because the next day is Mother’s Day,” Brian, the police officer, told CBS reporters.
Mr. Melvyn has always bought flowers for his wife on Mother’s Day since the birth of their first child. He may not remember much, but love is something Mr. Melvyn can never forget.
The two police officers were also amazing. They patiently followed the old man to the flower shop. After choosing the flowers and going to the checkout counter, Mr. Melvyn seemed to not have enough money to pay. That’s why the two reluctant bodyguards secretly slipped money to the cashier. Afterwards, they escorted the old man back home to meet Mrs. Doris. She was waiting at home and extremely worried about her husband.
“When he walked up the porch and I saw the roses and his smile, I burst into tears,” Mrs. Doris confessed to CBS.
“I could only say, ‘Thank you, thank you.’ I understand him.”
Love is amazing and miraculous! Mr. Melvyn may forget everything, but he has never forgotten his beloved wife!
