Composer Nguyen Van Chung reunites with actress Anh Dao in Australia.

Nguyen Van Chung is known for his hit song Viet Tiep Cau Chuyen Hoa Binh, which has garnered 5 billion views across platforms. He had the chance to reconnect with Anh Dao during a trip to Australia to send his adopted daughter to study abroad. He shared on social media: “I accidentally met my little sister and long-lost friend from 13 years ago: actress Anh Dao – Hanh Can from ‘Kính Vạn Hoa.’ Because she kept a low profile, I had no idea what she was up to. Hearing her story, I admired her passion for education. She pursued her dream alone in Singapore, Hawaii, the US, and now Australia.”

According to Chung’s social media post, Anh Dao is now a lecturer in AI (Artificial Intelligence) at a university in Perth, Australia.

From the role of Hanh Can in ‘Kính Vạn Hoa’ to her dream of becoming a teacher

Actress Anh Dao, born in 1989, is best loved for her portrayal of Hanh Can in the iconic series Kính Vạn Hoa, which became an integral part of the student life of 80s and 90s generations in Vietnam. She joined the cast at the young age of 15, effortlessly embodying the endearing character of Hanh.

The image of the bespectacled girl with tanned skin and a bright smile remains etched in the minds of viewers who adored the trio of Hanh Can, Quy Rom, and Tieu Long in Kính Vạn Hoa. Their strong friendship evoked a sense of nostalgia for the carefree school days.

Hanh Can, with her tanned skin, has blossomed into a beautiful young woman.

Beyond Kính Vạn Hoa, Anh Dao appeared in other notable productions such as Tuong Vi Canh Mong, Noi Tinh Yeu Bat Dau, Phan Dan Ba, and May Rau Lam Vo. She was praised for her photogenic face and natural acting skills. In addition to acting, she also ventured into modeling and commercial endorsements.

In 2009, Anh Dao unexpectedly left the entertainment industry to pursue higher education in Singapore after receiving a marketing scholarship. Speaking about her abrupt departure from showbiz, Anh Dao shared that everyone makes different choices at different times.

She revealed that the cost of living in Singapore was high, and international students were not allowed to work, making it a challenging period for those from humble backgrounds. She considered herself fortunate to have endured those years abroad. During her studies, she often missed home, especially during the Lunar New Year celebrations, which she couldn’t spend with her family.

Anh Dao embarked on her educational journey in Singapore in 2009.

In an interview with Lao Động newspaper, Anh Dao recounted: “While others may work part-time jobs or enjoy weekends off, you might have to take on additional work to increase your income. If they sleep for many hours, you might sleep less to study.” This challenging period honed her resilience and determination. “Dreams are priceless,” she asserted, “Overcoming difficulties is not a miracle but a result of strong will and perseverance.”

After a few years in Singapore, Anh Dao moved to Australia to continue her studies. She graduated from Victoria University in 2017 and became a lecturer in the field of educational management in Sydney and Melbourne.

From Singapore, Anh Dao moved to Australia for further studies and work.

In an interview with the media in 2021, Anh Dao shared that despite being a lecturer, she was often mistaken for a student due to her youthful appearance. When asked “What year are you in?” she jokingly replied: “If you’re studying Information Systems Management or are in the Business faculty, you’ll definitely see me around because I’ll be your teacher!”

Returning to the screen as a leisurely pursuit, and her stunning transformation

After a long hiatus from acting, Anh Dao made a comeback in the film Kính Vạn Hoa: Bat Den Con Ma, directed by Vo Thanh Hoa, last year. The director was touched to have Anh Dao, who had been living abroad and was no longer actively pursuing acting, accept the role of Hanh.

Compared to the TV series, Anh Dao’s appearance remained unchanged, exuding a natural and simple charm. She agreed to reprise her role because Kính Vạn Hoa held a special place in her heart, from her dedicated filming days to the love she received from the audience.

In her free time, she creates videos documenting her daily life, shares study abroad tips, and produces content about her experiences for social media.

Anh Dao remains in the hearts of her fans, even after all these years.

Having pursued her dream of becoming a teacher, Anh Dao now lectures to students from various countries. She has transformed from the tanned-skinned Hanh Can of yesteryear into a graceful and elegant young woman, earning praise for her stunning looks.
